Can New Orleanians sue?
I've read that the wetlands & coastal areas have been developed & that was part of the reason for the flooding. The wetlands & coastal areas offered some protection for NO from hurricanes, but the development has eroded the area & what's left isn't much of a buffer.

I would seriously doubt the poor got any benefit from all this new building. So I wondered, could there be a class action lawsuit against the developers & the City Council that let it happen? This whole aspect of the over development hasn't gotten much play & I wonder if a lawsuit would. I doubt a suit would get very far, but I was hoping maybe it could generate some kind of national discussion about protecting the environment, not just for the environments sake (which seems to go nowhere with a lot of people) but protecting the environment for the safety of coastal cities & towns.

So, is there any basis for a suit?

best

3. whoa!
I was so involved in the disappearing wetlands I totally overlooked the obvious. Yes! Sue the effers for not maintaining the levees.

I know the suits will probably not go very far. At least, I doubt they would get any money, but I'm thinking about publicity.

Maybe the Sierra Club could get involved.
