Lot's of pictures of the Mississippi destruction at the Sun-Herald.com
Some of these pictures are just incredible, especially the Aerial pictures from right after the storm. My personal favorite is the picture of the U.S. 90 bridge. Anyone know if they can raise and re-use any of the Bridge Deck that fell into the Bay?

4. When I was down there, most people thought that was good
I was just down in Gulfport to help my parents out. Most people would look around them in awe of the damage, but would still comment that New Orleans needed help more.

Keep in mind when looking at these pictures that the towns on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi extend inland several miles, and while the whole region was shut down by Katrina, a lot of businesses were able to start opening back up within a week. They had power to most of the region within two weeks, and water more quickly. It was never as isolated or as in danger as New Orleans.

Not trying to say it was easy, just that most people I spoke to knew that New Orleans needed help worse. There is a connection between the two regions-- a lot of people have relatives in both areas.

5. What awesome generosity, jobycom.
There was so much devestation I wondered if they had some resentment at the uneven press coverage. Thanks for sharing their feelings, it perked me up for some reason. Maybe because it means the people on the Gulf are temporarily down but not out.

6. Yeah thanks, good to get un tainted info from a local.
Let us know what they decide about the Casinos.

I heard one of the "radio evangelists" was saying the destruction of the Casinos was a message from an angry God.:eyes:
