Kerry's retort to Bush: Leadership isn't a toll-free number
SENATOR KERRY (D-MA) ISSUED THIS REBUTTAL TO RAW STORY JUST AFTER BUSH'S SPEECH....

"Leadership isn't a speech or a toll-free number. Leadership is getting the job done. No American doubts that New Orleans will rise again, they doubt the competence and commitment of this Administration.

Weeks after Katrina, Americans want an end to politics-as-usual that leaves them dangerously and unforgivably unprepared.

Americans want to know that their government will be there when it counts with leadership that keeps them safe, not speeches in the aftermath to explain away the inexcusable."

4. Bingo! Bush could give every survivor 1 million dollars...
But that would not change the fact he and his Administration sat on their asses and let innocent AMERICANS die because they simply do not care.

Fuck you Bush. Unless you can raise the dead, (over 400 as of today) you will always be an incompetent ass.

17. Exactly.
There is no excuse for his behavior and the complete lack of federal response in the first days after the flood. Americans DIED for lack of water and food and he stood by and did NOTHING. Oh wait. The ones that died were poor and/or black so they don't really count. At least, that's how Dubya sees it.

That goddamned bastard. He needs to be impeached. And then permanently locked up in the Superdome with no food or water. Throw in his whole goddamned Cabinet while you're at it.

Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 10:56 AM by TayTay
He hasn't done a 'major speech' since Feb. I don't know what it's about, but I suspect Iraq and the poor handling of the aftermath of KAtrina. I think this is prelude to going on the news and the talking heads shows.

Dont tell me it's a press conference or on CSPAN- that does not count- no news shows are obligated to show that.

I'm talking about somthing that people besides DUers will hear or read- like a TV show interview or a major Op-Ed.

56. Americans want to know that their government will be there when it counts
Kerry says: Americans want to know that their government will be there when it counts

I say: After suffering years of abuse at the hands of Republicans, I'd settle for a government whose leaders don't make me want to throw my shoes or lunch or rotten fruit at the t.v. when they show up in front of the camera.

Can I just get some leaders who don't make the hair on the back of neck stand up? I swear, I see the junta gathered together, and instead of making me feel inspired (which I guess is the intent of the photo ops) my flight response gets triggered.
