So THIS is how freepers react when Dems get near enough for debate.

The article is about Kerry and Corzine's appearances in NJ last Saturday, but there was a little story within the story that I got a laugh out of...the freeper protestors who are SO brave from a distance but who scatter like cockroaches out of fear if they even think they'll have to debate their target.

I think Dems should make a point out of confronting freepers and protestors at every appearance they make. Grab the "bull shitters" by the horns and HAVE those mini-debates wherever they show up. Obviously, they have nothing backing up their charges and will scatter out of fear first.

On the patio at Jimmy’s Haunt in Morristown, the place was packed and hot and perhaps inevitably someone’s knees buckled. Brenda Deming of Randolph said she usually eats a full breakfast and goes to outdoor political events armed with plenty of water but wooziness set in before Kerry reached the stage.

When someone asked her if she needed an ambulance she muttered “yeah,” and when the rig nosed its way up the Jimmy’s Haunt driveway where a gaggle of counter protestors held aloft signs that read “Didn’t Kerry lose?” and “It’s the Corruption, Stupid,” a broadside at Corzine, Deming didn’t remember what happened next until she was on a gurney and a figure loomed over her.

“Where is she?” Kerry had asked when he appeared finally and an emergency medical technician told him a woman had collapsed. Seconds later he was breaking from the crowd and walking across the driveway toward the ambulance. Seeing him suddenly up close and bearing down on them determinedly, the anti-Corzine protestors scattered, dragging their signs in a flurry of retreat and ultimately re-entrenching near the back of the parking lot. The ambulance’s double doors opened and Kerry hopped in.

1. What a difference...
You would never see Bush* doing that and protesters against Bush* would be four miles away in a "unfree speech zone."

4. Exactly
Bush would say "where is she?" and then head the other way.

11. I think he'd drop to his knees, pray over her fainted body while the medic
revives her with smelling salts, and Rove shouts from nearby, "It's a miracle - Praise Bush!"

Yes, they are THAT politically craven.

9. He'd probably have to wear a wire to debate any of us, too.
And still lose.

7. Sometimes the little stories in the articles are more revealing on other
levels that we can appreciate here at DU....heheh....especially given our universal combativeness towards all things freep.

3. The rest of the story
from the same link:

>>>>>

Deming looked up and saw him leaning over her. He crouched, clasping both her hands in his and holding her.

“I was so certain we were going to win (the 2004 Presidential Election),” Deming said later. “The day after the election I was so sad, I didn’t answer the phone. I couldn’t believe it. I still don’t believe it.”

In the ambulance, hands joined, almost head to head in the small space, Deming and Kerry laughed together.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

5. conclusion

Her arm rigged up to a bag of saline solution, the old Kerry-Edwards cap tossed in the bottom of the gurney, strapped in, exhausted, Deming couldn’t answer, she was so happy.

12. I weep for a good man done wrong and a country that must pay
for the crimes of the few.

Kerry IS my President.

14. LOL...they really are, aren't they? Imagine how THEY retold the story.
I'm sure in their version they badgered Kerry so relentlessly he was forced to hide in a nearby ambulance.
