ABC news exec cheers Hitchens at Galloway debate
from huffingtonpost:

To my surprise, Hitchens commanded a small but raucous contingent of cheerleaders. Christopher Isham, a senior producer for ABC News, whom I sat beside throughout the debate, was among them. Isham, who worked hand-in-glove with the late Peter Jennings and leads ABC News' investigative unit, applauded vigorously when Hitchens first appeared on stage and throughout his opening statement, which consisted of a spirited -- though mostly unintelligible -- defense of the invasion of Iraq. Isham laughed with glee as Hitchens red-baited the booing crowd, telling them, "Albania's been overthrown, comrades." When Galloway made his opening remarks, however, punctuating them by describing Hitchens as "something unique in natural history: the first natural metamorphosis from a butterfly to a slug," Isham groaned in disgust.

.... The debate on the Iraq war between Vanity Fair writer Christopher ("Hellbound") Hitchens and Member of Parliament George Galloway lived up to its billing, as the protagonists traded insults for two hours before a packed house, including hecklers. ....

Before taking the stage, Hitchens had handed out leaflets to the crowd outside documenting Galloway's cozying up to such despots as Saddam Hussein and Bashar Assad. (Hitchens later described Assad as "the slobbering dauphin who rules Syria only because he is the son of the slobbering dictator who ran Syria.") ....

Galloway, who called the U.S and Britain "rogue states," stumbled when he brought up 9/11: "You think those planes came out of the clear blue sky? I think they came out of a swamp of hatred we created." When the boos subsided, Hitchens chided him. "You picked the wrong city to say that in, arguably the wrong month as well."

Hitchens later said, "To come here after embracing these bloodstained bastards, and to tell us we deserve it — that's too much."

Attacking "this hypocrite Hitchens" for inconsistency, Galloway said, "You were an angel, but now you are working for the devil — and damn you!"

9. Gosh, it's hard to believe such a man as Isham could have worked
for the sainted Peter Jennings. Yeah, isn't it.

Flame away if you want; but Jennings was a tool of the fascists running this country.
