Here it is, the Draft of the Petition to the UN
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 09:41 AM by ck4829
Several DU'ers, myself included, have wondered if Foreign Intervention might be the way to deal with the Far Right.

I say that we need to bring the UN into America. We possibly need to bring Peacekeepers into the places where the Far Right has control and to protect the people who they hate the most. That is only one thing we need to do though. We also need to investigate the Far Right and make sure that the Far Right Ideology does not spread outside of America, as extremist RW Groups are starting to form in Canada.

So, here it is, my Draft Petition asking for UN Intervention. Tell me if you like it or if it needs some revision.

"We are coming before you to ask you for help. Our nation is being attacked and taken over by the Far Right, also known as the Right Wing or the 'Conservative Movement'.

Our nation, the United States of America, is a nation that says it is battling extremists, but in reality it is governed by extremists who have wreaked havoc upon this nation and even has ties to the terrorists that the United States of America is waging war against today.

There is a vast and powerful dangerous, almost militant, network in the United States. This network poses a serious threat to the freedom and well being of the world. They also plan to use the United States as a launching pad to spread their Far Right ideology.

There is a political arm and a political-religious arm in this network.

The political arm contains:
Republican Party (Federal Level)
Ohio Republican Party
Florida Republican Party
Texas Republican Party
California Republican Party
Free Congress Foundation
Heritage Foundation
(Plus other groups)

The political-religious arm contains:
American Family Association
Chalcedon Foundation
Christian Broadcasting Network
Christian Coalition
Family Research Institute
Focus on the Family
(Plus other groups)

There are Republican Parties listed here. We do not think that the people who vote for these Republicans are with them. We think that only the people who are running the show are the extremists.

Several of these groups, such as the Chalcedon Foundation and the Family Research Institute, have been defined as Hate Groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center. We are not opposed to sharing our government with Conservatives, it's just that these Hate Groups have strong ties to the Right Wing that controls our government today and we do not want that.

The network exists and links these groups and more through a secretive group known as the Council for National Policy, which not many people, even in the United States of America, know about.

The Criminal and Terrorist Activities of the Far Right

1. Psychological Terrorism, Intimidation
2. Money Laundering
3. Connections to Conflict Diamonds
4. Political Corruption
5. Vote rigging
6. Terrorist Training
7. Drugs
8. Espionage
9. Calls for violence
10. Installing and supporting Dictators and Death Squads
11. Violence and Domestic Terrorism

1. Psychological Terrorism (Intimidation)

There was an attempt by Right Wing groups to make Christians believe that Liberals would ban the Bible if they were elected.

2. Money Laundering

Many people in the Far Right have placed financial groups in the Cayman Islands, Liberia, and other places that are very lax in finance and tax laws.

3. Connections to Conflict Diamonds

Pat Robertson had an operation known as Freedom Gold Ltd. which mined diamonds from the Liberia region.

4. Political Corruption

Tom DeLay is a very corrupt politician. Members from several of his affiliated organizations have been indicted on criminal charges. He himself has been admonished on several occasions.

5. Vote rigging

Diebold has ties to the Republican Party AND is also very easy to hack. Even though Diebold machines are easy to hack into, they are being used in an increasing number of states for their elections.

6. Terrorist Training

At its 1994 convention, the United States Taxpayer's Party sold a paramilitary manual entitled Principles Justifying the Arming and Organizing of a Militia. This 100-page manual quickly became a staple within the militia movement and right-wing extremist circles.

7. Drugs

During the days of Iran-Contra, there are allegations that the Far Right had the Central Intelligence Agency ship cocaine into the US to help finance the Contras.

8. Espionage

Katrina Leung, a voting member on the Central Committee of the California Republican Party, compromised National Security by giving secrets to China.

Karl Rove leaked a CIA Agent's name to the media

9. Calls for violence

Agents of the Far Right have called for violence against many groups of people.

These people also produce propaganda and such which labels these groups to be a threat to their families and their culture.

The groups which are smeared by the Far Right include GLBT people, Doctors, Feminists, Liberals, people of other religions, and other groups.

GLBT people are perhaps the group that is in most danger by the Far Right. People on the Far Right such as Paul Cameron and RJ Rushdoony have called for the murder of GLBT people. The Christian Coalition also sold a book, 'Legislating Immorality', which has done the same.

Members of the Far Right such as Pat Robertson have openly called for violence and assassination such as the Democratically elected President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.

10. Installing and supporting Dictators and Death Squads

The Far Right has installed and/or supported several Dictators, they include but are not limited to:

Augusto Pinochet
Saddam Hussein
Efrain Rios Montt
Mobutu Sese Seko
Charles Taylor
Frederick Chiluba
Jorge Serrano

The Far Right has also supported Death Squads in Latin America such as the Contras and the ARENA Party.

11. Violence and Domestic Terrorism

There have also been a number of terrorist attacks on US soil by Far Right Extremists. In the last ten years, at least 183 people have died as a result of Domestic Right Wing Terrorism.

We are Americans who see the Far Right as a menace to America and the World.

We are asking for UN Intervention to do something, anything to help us deal with the Right Wing Menace before it really gets out of hand."

1. oh God no!
Don't tell the UN about this. They will want to form an alliance with the Far Right. Psychological Terrorism? Intimidation? Money Laundering ? Calls for violence? Installing and supporting Dictators? All this and child prostitution rings is pretty much the rasion d'etre of the UN these days.

I have read the UN charter, and while it may not have advocated all of the above, that's what the UN has turned into. So sad.

2. Then what do you suggest we do?
We can't wait on the 2006 Elections, or even hope that it will turn things around.

Even if we were to win with a landslide victory, it would just mean that the Far Right will retreat to the shadows waiting for the moment when they can steal America again, and that's the best case scenario IF we win.

Yes, the UN is not perfect. But, the Far Right hates the UN.

John Bolton, he's the Right Wing's man.

The UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child (Which would have created opposition to Honor Killings and Child Trafficking, all things that the RW says they are opposed to) was opposed by the RW.

All those crazy conspiracy theories you heard about the UN?

Yep, they came from the Far Right.

This is not something that I enthusiastically support.

But, we need a Defender from the Far Right to protect Americans and the rest of the world from them, they are becoming a threat.

4. The UN would provide balance
In a single superpower world, it would make sense to have a counter balance. And since, this situation could last for a generation or two, it might the best option might be for the UN to take a harder line with America.

BTW: that was a well thought out resolution you have there - it was quite comprehensive.

5. That's a slight of the UN that I think is disgraceful. Everybody knows
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 10:10 AM by neweurope
that the UN need to be reformed. But there is unfortunately a large power which stands in the way. And that's the US. "I have read the UN charter, and while it may not have advocated all of the above...." That's really abominable.

The UN is the only chance the world has. Instead of trying to find fault it would be better to do everything in our power to stregthen it them!

3. The UN is more honorable than the U.S. The UN should move out
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 09:55 AM by higher class
of the U.S., continue to work without U.S. $ contributions, consider reimbursing the U.S. for past payments (to stop the yelling of UN haters), determine new ways to become stronger and independent and stand up to the U.S., until the people of the U.S. regain their country.

The UN is hated in this country by:

Bigots who despise all furrners.
Imperialists who do not want to report to the UN, be subject to the UN, obtain UN agreements.
