Cmon people, there are NO accidents
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 10:04 AM by Horse with no Name
This is all part of the game plan. They want him to be impeached or resign. My guess is that they would prefer impeachment, but will take the other.
We have all known that GWB is only a figurehead.
They are going out of their way to make him look incompetent. Then to give an FDR speech when ALL he has left IS his base?
That isn't smart. Even someone as stupid as he is would know that.
Think about all of the scared looks he gives.
The man isn't a leader.
However, he has brought our country to the trough.
In order to fulfill the PNAC plans, perhaps they need Cheney at the helm.
Perhaps they NEED him impeached so that plans can continue forth without alerting the sheeple that evil is standing right over them before they make that final swoop.
You all know the players involved...Rove, Cheney, et al.
There are NO accidents.
They don't spend as much money as they do on think tanks and not know what the response to his speech was going to be.
This is part of the plan. I suspect it will unfold fairly rapidly.
I give it one month before we see the evil that lies beneath.

1. And I say we've got him until 2008...
2009, technically speaking.

Simply put, it's the stupidity, stupid.

It's amazing what you think will work when you're that high up in the ivory tower.

2. You got to be kidding
Bush* just pulled off the biggest caper of his career and you think they would want to get rid of him. Use your head, two hundred billion to Republican companies like Halliburton which will in turn kick back around ten billion dollars to the GOP. That money will come from the extra profit made by not having to pay a fair and decent wage to laborers. None of that money will go to individuals but to businesses that have suffered. This was a major coup for the GOP and they are absolutely giddy over it. It shows Bush* as a "Compassionate Conservative" and mostly Liberals will pay for it all. Americans have been had and they are smiling about it. The Con is working even better than expected.

3. He lost his base last night
He did pull off the caper.
HIS particular role in the act is over.
Someone else will step up and put the final touches on it.
It's all scripted.
Every bit of it.

4. I'm with you on this one
I don't think allowing New Orleans to drown was an accident. I don't believe allowing quagmire in Iraq is an accident. I don't believe allowing (or making) 9/11 happen was an accident.

Can you say Patriot Act 3?

I think the most telling thing about his speech last night (and the only thing that will come true) is that the military will have a far larger roll controlling domestic affairs - disaster or not.

...Iraq to be a cakewalk. It hasn't worked out that way and I'd bet they're looking very seriously at their nuke toys now. They'll never give up on world domination. When PNAC tells Chimpy it's time to push the button, he will. I see bad things coming.

He does look freaked out most of the time. There is a possibility that he actually believed that he was president at one time.

9. What about the stories of the aides that were scared to approach him?
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 10:41 AM by chalky

Why would they be afraid of him, if he's so fearful, too?
Seems like they'd be less inclined to cower from a coward.

15. Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.
Too many moving parts in your grand conspiracy theory. Too many people would need to be involved. You ascribe too much ability to them. They are clever, but not omnipotent.

I agree with you OP that there is an overall game plan in which Chimpy is merely a pawn. But I think the masterminds probably plan on using him as a foil for their subterranean operations and really don't want him out of office just yet. For one thing, he's useful as the Fool, the distractor. If everybody's watching our hapless leader, they'll miss the details. That's where the real devils are. I do not think the human disaster (PR disaster to some) in New Orleans was a case of "incompetence"--that's far too benign. No, it didn't turn out the way they thought exactly, but such a disaster is still seen as a windfall business opportunity and a way to exert more societal control --when you're viewing it from a very lofty perch.

I do think it is correct to read something into the symbolism of Shrub being isolated physically in this speech (when usually he is NEVER pictured without his royal entourage, flags flapping). And the FDR tone was very weird, very out of character. As for his being out of synch with his "base"--well I would say the Sheeple base would be turned off by his tone, but the base comprised of Corporate interests would still be seeing dollar signs. When you talk about his "base"--I see two tiers that can't be lumped together. He may be retrenching to his business class base, since he may be getting that the message that the economy seats are emptying out on the last flight to Hell.

If you are right that Chimpy is walking the plank right now, horse, I'll vote that you receive the DU Foresight Award. With this surreal scenario we're in now, anything could happen. The seal has been broken on Pandora's box, and I wouldn't be surprised at anything that flies out.

I do not think I agree with most of it, but interesting all the same.

I am in suspended animation over the speech. I will wait and see what actions Bush takes next. Its possible something has really changed here regardless of what you are saying. I will wait some time to see if that is the case.

26. no I am saying
its possible that something has changed Bush as a person. He has been spending alot of time with the mayor of NO, and for the first time seeing how the lowest rung of society lives. How many of these people are just hanging on by a thread.

It is improbable but possible that this has changed him in some fundamental way. Its too early to tell though, and thats why I will withold judgement on whether this is a political stunt to appeal to the moderates for polling purposes or whether something more fundamental has changed.

As to the message. Well to moderates, left leaning republicans and most dems FDR is rated as one of the best presidents of all time. His message rates very high with them. My dad, in his late 70s, is a new deal dem and wanted to talk about FDR after the speech. I found that to be very interesting. I was only half paying attention to the speech so when my dad came to talk to me about FDR I was very very surprised and had to go watch the whole speech paying closer attention to it. When I was done I was very surprised by what Bush said. Having a few conservative friends I knew they would be very angry over the speech and from the emails I got this morn I can confirm that much at least.

27. OK thanks for reply, I see your point now
I responded to you on this same point in another thread. Sorry about the redundancy.

I'm skeptical...as nice as it would be to think that he reflects some kind of life-altering epiphany, the odds of that happening with his type of personality are slim. It is very rare that any perpetrator of these kinds of acts ever really repents. If they do, it is only after a long period of introspection (and/or therapy). If Chimpy feels sadness about all this, it's that he recognizes that his pRresidency is up the creek along with the people of New Orleans.

I'm interested in the effect of this speech on "new deal dems"--is he trying to trade his rightwing base for the moderates? (I don't think it'll fool the left).
