AEI Whore Bill Schneider says GOP HAS NO ANSWERS, Dems DO!
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 10:13 AM by Atman
Jesus! The world is turning upside down!

He just said on CNN that the democrats have answers. They're talking about the tax cuts, the war...they have solutions, but the GOP is stuck in one place, can't figure out what to do because they're committed to NOT raising taxes, but there is little left in the budget to cut.

WE HAVE OUR MESSAGE, DUers. AEI itself says the GOP has no solution, but the DEMS do!

Be still my heart!

2. If there is little left in the budget to cut, when do the deficits stop?
Also when does the national debt get paid down?

18. Ask Bill Clinton. He did it. Bush should be begging him for advice.
And on the other hand the Repubs spent 60 million dollars getting the guy impeached because of a sexual indiscretion. That should explain why the repubs always ruin the economy.

20. Don't forget - they want to drown the federal govt in the bathtub
Draining the treasury is part of that plan. So the Republicans love federal deficits.

Schneider seems like an actor to me. Somebody writes a script of some intelligent-sounding political talk, and he reads it off as CNN filler.

Uber GOP think tank. I think half of Bush's staff or cabinet are members. BushCo has done press conferences from AEI studios.

5. At least we are tying to make a difference
in everyone's lives not just their own. We are the party of the people and they are the party of property. We are coming up and ready to take control. No longer are we to sit on the sidelines of the game, we make the game, we control the rules, we will beat them in 2006 and 2008. Now we have to really get on the voting activities in this country. 1 person 1 vote 1 ballot.....

7. Wow
I can't believe this drew so little attention. It was one of the most shocking things I've heard on teevee since The New New Deal! Are we just moving too fast to notice this stuff today? Do you realize how big this is when a member of the GOP's own think tank is saying they don't have an answer, but the DEMS do? Hmph.

12. The GOP looted the store and left a mess.
It's no surprise they don't want to clean up after their cronies. They merely want to retreat to their gated enclaves and wallow in their newly-pillaged wealth. These folks don't do the work! They turn to the janitors on the left to do the heavy lifting.

Looters clad in shiny suits. Their programs amount to smash and grab raids on the public's treasury and pocketbooks.

Attempts to find "something to cut elsewhere" to make up the costs of the hurricane reconstruction will doom Republican Congressmen by the dozens at the polls next year.....

13. They always did but asses like Schneider hit the mute button on them so
many times, that few in America had the opportunity to hear.

The only time they heard it unfiltered was in the debates, and that is why Kerry won all three so decisively.

Too bad, the media changed the subject afterwards to HEY, A NEW (OLD) BIN LADEN TAPE.

They have finally seen that the GOP suit is falling apart, and now they are hunting for a good PPI tailor to make some minor adjustments to the Democratic suit that will fit their bloated greedy bodies...

21. Almost sounds like a trap for Democrats
Perhaps it would be wise for Democrats to stay off the taxes issue and let the Republicans squirm around in their slime. Democrats could score a lot of points talking about the soaring deficits. And then, when they get into power again, reverse the tax cuts.

Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 12:15 PM by maine_raptor
There is SOME sanity left among that central 10-20% that a party has to get in order to win elections.

They know that the recovery is going to be hugely expensive, that the war is not going well and is also a fiscal burden to the country, and that the everyday cost of living is going up (measure of which used to be a gallon of milk, now it's a gallon of gas).

And I'm willing to bet if Dems started talking (at all levels) about Tax Reform, which included raising taxes on SOME of the population, using the Clinton model and how it worked back in the 90's, a lot of that 10-20% would jump to the "left".

Plus the usual flow is that for the last congress-critter election of a President's term, the opposition party picks up a lot of seats.

Want an example?

Look at 1958, Ike's last congressional election. Dems got good number of seats in Congress that year. Why? Well back in Oct the year before, there was this little National Defense Disaster call Sputnik.

Scared the bejeuses out of folks, made them think they weren't safe and all, and they ended up votin' D. Substitute Katrina this time around.

23. What answers?
I still haven't heard an agenda put forth that I can get behind, like National health care, education, infrastructure repair, repeal od these stupid drug laws.
A real social agenda, that will take some bucks to do, but let's take those dollars from the wasteful mouths of the pigs at the trough, and put them to use for all of us.

29. Another sign the GOP is falling apart...but...
Nov. 2006 is soooooo far away, politically.

I mean, if arch-conservatives start having religious conversions to more Lefty thinking....I mean...where does this lead? Dems are STILL so totally out of control until Nov. 2006.

I have no historical precedent I can think of that gives me an idea of what a totally in-control Republican Party - riddled with shame-faced converts (if that IS what we are seeing) - DOES for the next 14 months!

But thinking about it will brighten the rest of my day today!

34. That's Why KKKarl Has To Go
I concur fully. KKKarl's demise is the key to victory in Congress. Even before Katrina, I was confident that the Senate could be recaptured under Howard Dean's skilled leadership but knew that success in the House was less likely. Now, the left's chances in the House have improved but remain far from certain until KKKarl is gone. He is the linchpin.
