bush admin is looking to blame environmentalists for the flood.
From the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger (via Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo):

Federal officials appear to be seeking proof to blame the flood of New Orleans on environmental groups, documents show.

The Clarion-Ledger has obtained a copy of an internal e-mail the U.S. Department of Justice sent out this week to various U.S. attorneys' offices: "Has your district defended any cases on behalf of the (U.S.) Army Corps of Engineers against claims brought by environmental groups seeking to block or otherwise impede the Corps work on the levees protecting New Orleans? If so, please describe the case and the outcome of the litigation."

And read Josh's excellent posts about bush's speech. He is dead on about Rove being given 200 billion dollars to hand out, and also about bush's claim that the feds need more power and a bigger role for the military.

so they can fuck up on a much grander scale?

Bigger government? I thought that was a RW no-no.

4. I think Bush is thinking bigger.
I have to believe that these nutjobs really think it's their manifest destiny to take over this country and privatize it for their cronies. Give them credit for understanding that they have to get full control of the military and federal government in order to completely get away with it. It's not the Dems they'll have to worry about. It's all those grassroot paramilitarys in the Southern States who will realize they've been taken by their own people.

Where do you think it will be safe to hide from the crossfire?

2. Asshole Sean Insannity was raving yesterday on the radio
about it being the environmentalists' fault.

5. If DU'ers got over their hatred of Clinton they'd have PROOF the Govt.
has all the authority it already needs.

Clinton and FEMA were successful in dealing with Miss. floods in 93 and the Grand Rapids floods in ND in 97.
