"Will you return to the New Orleans area?" (Online Poll)
It's completely unscientific, but here are the results of an online poll by a local TV station website:
Will you return to the New Orleans area?

Yes 1,401 77%
No 285 16%
Unsure 131 7%
There are also listed below. The site requires registration, but it's interesting reading.
To leave the greatest city in the world is unthinkable. To miss out on the greatest opportunity to initiate change, to create a legacy, and to show the world what New Orleans is capable of (instead of the media-frenzied images of a small population of looters) is just simply unthinkable. I'll be back and make New Orleans better.

New Orleans is a shining example of pure stupidity. If you're dumber than dirt but you were born into the right family, every opportunity is open to you. But if you have three degrees from Harvard and happen not to be a blue-blood, forget it. If you believe New Orleans is a great place to live, you've got to be severely delusional. But if you like living in strangling heat and humidity, with criminals ruling the streets, with everyone on welfare, with politicians taking advantage of every situation, then New Orleans is the place for you! I never again want to eat gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish, beginets or anything even remotely associated with New Orleans; besides, they cause obesity, something that also is more common in New Orleans than any other American city....New Orleans deserves nothing more than to rot in the hell it has created for itself.

New Orlans, you are my home. You are the home of my parents, my grandparents, my great- and great-great grandparents. I love you and I *will* help you to get back on your feet. I will return to you and together we will grow and begin anew. Your multiculturalistic demeanor, your multi-tiered economy are both a gift and a challenge. I thank yo--for these, for being there, for being my home...and I shall return to you and grow with you. I love you. Theresa, your daughter...

I am a transplant but love the city, the people, the food, the culture. I also have a home there that I have invested in. I have lost my job that I loved tremendously (at the Audubon Zoo) but I have hope that I can find something. As much as I love the city the reality is if we cannot keep our jobs we will be forced to leave.

because its home man. its hard to leave a place you were born and raised in.

new orleans /algiers point is my home . new orleans is the only city i would live in.it is the best place in the world . nita i stayed thru the storm it was scarry but the men from the point in the street with guns scared me more.i know they had a precieved job to protect our belongings but marching around with guns was for me too much. can't wait to get home . nt

The City of Sin was finally cursed by the Almighty. I guess she had enough! The Big Easy received its long awaited cleansing of dirt, litter, filth, slum and crime that had ruined a beautiful place, my hometown, my New Orleans. Unless there is a change in the way we treated our charming City I may never return.

Ain't living in a place wear corrupt cowards abandon pumping stations.

The Big Easy will be force to change for the good.. progress will come with the money, but if the local people screw it up and waste the money, corruption etc .. There will be no "NEW" New Orleans..

WHO ARE YOU ALL - 'KIDDING' WITH YOUR "DISNEYLAND" LIES! YOU WANT THE 'MONEY' -- "HONEY!!"

Got job very quickly in Dallas making more than I was at home.

Yeah bebe, I gotta go home! These people here in Florida, they're nice and all, but they got no idea how to eat (or WHAT to eat, really!) what the Rosenberg's jingle is, who Becky Allen or Professor Carl Nivale is, or nothin' else that's important and good. Heck, I told one gal here I wanted to axe her somethin, and she backed away from me like I was gonna kill her! GIMME BACK MY NEW ORLEANS DERE, HAWT!!!

So, my question is: is this a good cross-section of people's sentiment? Or is it likely to overestimate of the number of people who return? And what do you think of some of those comments?
