So, my American Govt. teacher just went over the 50's... |
|
and it's amazing how, if you replaced "communist" with "terrorist", how exactly it would look like today's climate.
Where is today's Joseph Welch?

1. Cold War = War on Terror |
|
Nitze to Wolfowitz to Cheney to Rumsfeld.
The same game plan.

Personally, I felt safer during the cold war.

I have read that he will be completing his grand jury in a couple of weeks and has asked that no hearing take place until then so as not to weaken the sentencing of these criminals.

5. Without a "them" our Economy would need an overhaul |
|
of systemic proportion .
The corporatist that run America want to keep things the same so they need a "them" to continue to make money they way they are accustom to .

7. And then there were those evil huns |
|
poised to destroy our nation. We had to fight them over there, so we wouldnt have to fight them over here.
And for some reason we also had to fight them in the caribbean.

I recently worked with some old journal articles from the 50s and 60s and I was amazed by the political similarities to today.
So much of what happened is the same, just with new "actors" in the roles.

Frank Zappa pointed out that the Iranian bogeyman was used by Reagan to replace the eternal enemy that had been the Soviet Union. Radical Islam was to become the new enemy after the end of the Cold War.
He mentioned this explicitly in The Real Frank Zappa Book, but alluded to it as early as 1979 (Joe's Garage).
This has been brewing most of my life.

muslims are our external enemy.
liberals, or "leftists", which includes everyone who is not a "conservative", have replaced communists as america's internal enemy.

Commies were just a sub-group.

15. Indeed, once the left was essentially marginalized |
|
they began salting the ideological fields. They will keep narrowing the field of accepted political discourse as long as they have the power to do so.
