Conservative friend talked me into using Drudge as a links page
Hrm.

Remember the Yosemite Sam cartoon where he said he'd have to burn his boots after stepping on Yankee soil. It kinda feels like that.

Nevertheless, purely as a links page to all those different newspapers, several of them being liberal or at least good news sources, it is tempting to use the site as a starting point to read news like a fiend.

Anyone else wander over there and use his stuff? Got a problem with it?

15. It works like ad revenues for any medium
The more eyeballs you can guarantee to deliver, the more you can charge for ad space.

16. Impressions are less valuable than click-thru's
yeah its' counted as an impression for his banner ads..
.. you know the ones that say "Punch Kerry in the nuts and win a new Ipod"

or "How much do you love the president ? Take this survey to win a new Hummer 3"

4. I prefer Buzzflash - a Liberal site that has all of that too.
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 02:31 PM by Dr Fate
www.buzzflash.com

Scroll to the bottom for hundreds of news links from all over the world- pretty much the exact links Drudge has.

Send your advertising "clicks" to the good guys.

6. Drudge makes money every time you visit his site.
If you're already there, why not bookmark the newspapers or other sites you may wish to re-visit then leave, never to return.

11. Well yeah I've got a problem with it.
I wouldn't link to any of their sites, other than to point them out as examples of the evil movement that calls itself conservative.

12. You can grab his page
strip out everything but the links, and save it to your HD. That'll give you what you want without putting cash into Drudge's pocket. That site has made him a millionaire.

20. They do indeed. But I find I am lazy, and I'm absorbing too much analysis
and not enough news. I want to stop swallowing red meat whole and wade through some of it myself as time allows.

21. I would link to it
but the wording of the link would be something like "Get a load of this pile of crap"

or

"And now for something completely stupid . . ."

22. When I say link to it, I mean using it as a home page.
No sir. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent.

23. You could save a copy of the page on your hard drive.
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 04:25 PM by LoZoccolo
You'd have an HTML file that would still have the links to newspapers in it, and you'd only have to visit it one more time. You could even still use the copy from your hard drive as your homepage.
