The 1st Amendment has to do with government interference with free speech. Speaking freely and then being critized for what you said elsewhere in the free press has nothing to do with the 1st Amendment. He is such a moran, there really is no end to the misrepresentations he will make.

I HATE when people start crying "first amendment! first amendment!" when anybody criticizes something they say. The first amendment guarantees you the right to say what you want to say. It does not guarantee that anybody will agree with you or even want to listen to you.

Or as I explained to a rather slow-witted right-winger once, the first amendment guarantees you the right to be a jerk. It doesn't mean that I won't call you a jerk when you act like one.

Regardless of the fact that Limbaugh has not been charged with any crime, his image as a moralizer is forever compromised. He has no credibility with regard to matters of personal responsibility or behavioral integrity.

Sure, everyone makes mistakes. But not everyone preaches daily to twenty million doting listeners who tend to gobble Limbaugh’s directives without much skepticism. Rush’s professed purity in his own life as he “shines the light of truth” on those less perfect than himself is more of a joke today than it ever was.
