Do you think Cheney will last the entire term? (Impeachment is not a real world option. Just won't happen.) I am talking about his health.

If he goes, who get promoted? Would that person catch the POTUS fever and run themselves in 08?

Hell, why not just install him as President? Georgie can go back to the "ranch".

If you mean it as a straight question, then the answer is, "Yes."

14. The bigger question is, who would pick the new VP with Cheney gone?
Not like Bush makes his own choices.

Although I have a cool idea. He could pick his dad! The psychoanalytical dynamics alone would give us years of material, and his dad would probably pardon him. Probably. As long as it didn't cost the family too much money.

Cheney's "resignation" due to health reasons has been predicted by many here on DU and elsewhere.

18. John McCain. That's why McCain has been so kissy-kissy with Dubya lately.
I think that the fix is already in for John McCain if Cheney is indicted in the Plame affair.

IF CHENEY IS INDICTED BY PATRICK FITZGERALD:

1.) Cheney resigns due to health matters and is lauded for his "great contributions to America in the time of national crisis" after 9/11,

2.) Bush then blanket pardons Cheney for any and all potential criminal activity while in the White House which will then protect Bush from having Cheney testify against him,

3.) Bush appoints John McCain who has already shown his stripes by sticking up for Bush even when other Republicans wouldn't. VP McCain gets a running advantage against all other GOP contenders in 2008. McCain agrees to pardon Bush for any and all potential criminal activity even though he "knows that Bush would never had done anything wrong."

4.) McCain picks Jeb Bush as his Vice Presidential running mate to secure Florida's electoral votes in 2008.

5.) The Bush / Saudi Crime Family continues on for eight more years.

He has not criticized Bush once throughout this entire ordeal. A true syncophant through and through.

Otherwise maybe George Allen, Condasleaza perhaps...Allen has presidential aspirations. Maybe he could go with that hack of a governor Mitt Romney...or the one man that actually exploited 9/11 as much or more than Bush - Giuliani.

Either way he's likely to pick another very reliable conservative.

I didn't get to vote in that election. I say NO! We can't afford it. The arrogant bastard will just have to wait praying he doesn't die before we rebuild NOLA! Maybe we can take up a collection to have his leg amputated above the knee?

30. Way back when....immediately after the last election, Brian Williams
was on Imus....he said that the rumor around Washington was that during the second administration, the repuke/rove plan was for Cheney to resign for "health" reasons, allowing bush to appoint a new VP. He said that was scuttlebutt.

This would give the new, rove-chosen VP 3 years on the national and world stages to prepare him for the election of 2008. It is the only way rove can guarantee that McCain or Rudy does NOT get the repuke nomination. On social issues, McCain or Rudy would undo most of the gains the RW extremists have made. The rove plan is for the repuke party to take over the country, making the Dem party just a token party, small and ineffective....just for show. For rove to succeed in this, he can't just retire when bush is out of office. He must make sure his plan for America is continued by a person of his choosing...and with so many "hurricanes" and "gas hikes" out there, he'd better get a new VP (the next pres in 2008) fast.

I have always remembered what Brian Williams said, and every time cheney goes into the hospital, I expect an announcement of his "retirement."

33. Easy: Tom DeLay
We know Bush doesn't give a shit what anyone else thinks, we know they control the voting machines, and we know he doesn't give a flying fuck about anyone who can't afford to give $250,000 to the Republican Party.

Okay, so who's the biggest thug in DC? It ain't Shrub, I'm here to tell ya. Shrub is (pardon the pun) bush league compared to DeLay. DeLay has more practice.

Cheney goes off into that good night and DeLay steps in. His confirmation is practically guaranteed even if Bush has to recess-appoint the cocksucker. Bush then pardons the entire administration and resigns, DeLay becomes president...y'all thought Cheney was gonna be bad, wait till DeLay takes the oath of office and starts singing his acceptance speech:

These are the laws of my administration...

No one's allowed to smoke, or tell a dirty joke
And whistling is forbidden

If chewing gum is chewed, the chewer is pursued
And in the hoosegow hidden

If any form of pleasure is exhibited
Report to me and it will be prohibited
I'll put my foot down, so shall it be
This is the land of the free!

The last man really ruined this place, he didn't know what to do with it
If you think this country's bad off now just wait till I get through with it!

The country's taxes must be fixed, and I know what to do with it
If you think you're paying too much now just wait till I get through with it!

I will not stand for anything that's crooked or unfair
I'm strictly on the up-and-up, so everyone beware
If anyone's caught taking graft and I don't get my share
We'll stand him up against the wall and pop! goes the weasel!

If any man should come between a husband and his bride
We'll find out which one she prefers by letting her decide
If she prefers the other man the husband steps outside
We'll stand him up against the wall and pop! goes the weasel!

And no, I didn't google that one.
