I kept wishing that Stonewall Jackson would jump off that pedestal on his charger and give Bush his comeuppance.

The video of Maxine Waters and Cynthia McKinney was particularly moving. Racism may be more subtle now, but it's there in what Waters called the attitude of Bush and his mother.

Both good and bad can come from Katrina, the bad being more of the same racism and injustice leading to more misery, death, divisiveness, and probably violence; the good being, at long last, the beginning of a long, serious discussion about race and concrete efforts made to compensate for past evils and have all people pulling this country in the same, positive direction.

Thank you for getting me thinking about these issues through that powerful second video. I'm going to check out the first one now.
