I see Cheney is sick again, and needs hospitalization
Haven't you guys noticed how puffy and bloated he has become?

And how rare he is seen in the public?

Mike Malloy commented on his puffiness the other night.

He says it's common with people who suffer from heart disease.

Cheney is looking bad these days, that's for sure.

is what it looks like to me.

I'm not a Dr., but I play one on DU;)

Just saying, my granny had those same symptoms.

They are saying aneurysm on the back of his leg. I'm thinking he is going in for bi-pass surgery and they are going to take some blood vessels from his leg and they need an excuse for the limping/scarring, etc.

I might find some compassion if Cheney and his nominal boss resigned for the good of the country, before they did any more damage. Until then I'll channel my more charitable impulses toward far more deserving human beings.

he told of the events on 9/11 -- he couldn't keep the phone lines open because Lynn Cheney was a real witch about the phones.

I can't remember exactly - but I do recall her completely dissing Clarke's request that the phone lines be kept open.

30. Richard Clarke was in the situation room with Condi
and the others who were meeting to discuss what to do. Condi requested that he run the meeting, interestingly enough.

Cheney (and his shrew of a wife,) were in the underground bunker. Clarke needed access to Cheney; they were discussing matters of national security. * was all over the country on Air Force One. Lynne Cheney kept turning down the speaker connecting those in the meeting to the bunker; she was mad because she "couldn't hear CNN."

This is the first 30 pages of Richard Clarke's book. I was so mad after reading the above that I had to put the book down for awhile. Lynne Cheney was interfering with a matter of national security because she "couldn't hear CNN"? I'm wondering how long it will be before I can finish it.

11. Yes, I tend to believe this.
Remember, about 1 month ago? Cheney was in Denver, and he was whisked away for some kind of hush-hush visit to the hospital. Later, a hospital spokesperson said it was problem with his knee due to "an old football injury".

So he could very well have some kind of trouble with the circulation in his knee. Don't forget: this could be a sign of serious problems.

Now, I do know that the Old Boy has a hole in his aorta which has not closed properly. I know his doctors must live a stress-filled existence taking care of this man.

Notice the photo on the bottom, where he's sitting next to Lynne. His face is red, puffy. It's almost purple if you look really closely.

******I can't say what I'm thinkin******

13. He should retire. Ordinarily it would be the VP who would go to NOLA
That was Al Gore's job under Clinton. If Cheney has congestive heart failure then he is just hurting himself by pushing himself too hard, and the country will suffer if he isnt available to do his job.

The reason the GOP accepted * and his known stupidity and other faults was because Cheney was supposed to be the "real" president. If the real president cant serve, then he needs to step aside.

22. I think he was trying to hide bloating, and
I think maybe his circulation is so bad that maybe he felt cold -- or something. I don't know how anyone could stand to wear so much clothing in that heat.

I don't know why a long sleeved shirt wasn't sufficient to hide whatever they were hiding. That's why I suspect he was actually cold -- or something.

It was very strange. Do you remember the photograph? It was shortly after the London shooting of the Brazilian. The first thing that went through my mind was that the Brazilian had been shot for wearing less, and in cooler weather.

46. well...........
....a blood thinner should prevent clots. I spose that's the danger, that a clot will form in the aneurism and break off and give him a pulmonary embolism.

54. Coumadin is a standard thing with any implanted device for cardiac.
His defib unit/pacemaker probably requires that he take Coumadin. It is a blood thinner that works kind of like Heparin does--it prevents clotting. With any kind of valve implant or pacemaker unit they'd be afraid of clots forming on it and then breaking off and causing strokes and what-not.

Cheney looks like a guy who is carrying a lot of fluid (in congestive heart failure.) Oddly enough, they have published some studies lately that indicate that stem cells can help a great deal with heart failure. Given all the posturing the GOP has done on stem cell I find it no small irony, even while I mourn for the people it could help.

My father is in the later stages of Congestive Heart Failure, and I know this stuff from personal observations of his battle for survival.

17. Is this the "plan" right on schedule?
((I just posted this in another thread, so am copying and pasting it here....am lazy, lazy tonight.))

Way back when....immediately after the last election, Brian Williams

was on Imus....he said that the rumor around Washington was that during the second administration, the repuke/rove plan was for Cheney to resign for "health" reasons, allowing bush to appoint a new VP. He said that was scuttlebutt.

This would give the new, rove-chosen VP 3 years on the national and world stages to prepare him for the election of 2008. It is the only way rove can guarantee that McCain or Rudy does NOT get the repuke nomination. On social issues, McCain or Rudy would undo most of the gains the RW extremists have made. The rove plan is for the repuke party to take over the country, making the Dem party just a token party, small and ineffective....just for show. For rove to succeed in this, he can't just retire when bush is out of office. He must make sure his plan for America is continued by a person of his choosing...and with so many "hurricanes" and "gas hikes" out there, he'd better get a new VP (the next pres in 2008) fast.

I have always remembered what Brian Williams said, and every time cheney goes into the hospital, I expect an announcement of his "retirement."

24. Cheney looks absolutely horrible. He is close to death.
There is not a doubt in my mind.

The guy is obviously carrying gallons of extra water in his body tissues. Just look at him, for crying out loud! He has rarely appeared in public over the last few weeks, and when he has, he's been caked with obvious make-up and looked like a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon, he's been so huge and bloated. That sudden hyperinflated look does not come from too many meals at Ruth Chris's Steakhouse. It's from a serious cardiovascular condition.

He is a textbook case of SEVERE congestive heart failure. I don't wish a death by heart failure on ANYONE, not even my worst enemy. But just looking at Cheney, I can't see that the guy is going to survive to next year.

35. My dad has a very similar heart history to Cheney's
and is in the same age range (he is a bit older than Cheney but not unreasonably older than he is) and Cheney is showing signs of heart failure. Many people with severely damaged hearts end up having that. Signs include water retention which is pretty much bloating. The drugs used for that tend to have a lot of side effects including making you much less energetic. Frankly it was nothing short of insane to have him as VP given this condition. The press really let us down on this though he has lasted for longer than I thought he would. There is no earthly way my Dad could ever keep the kind of schedule that Cheney should be keeping as VP for a man as disengaged as Bush is. To compare my Dad went on disability from being a speech therapist over 14 years ago, when he would have been around a decade younger than Cheney is now.
