So tonight my spouse and I were talking about the current state
of affairs, mind you, my being consumed with the aftermath of Katrina is bothering him. During the course of the conversation I said, "it's inconvenient because I want to have a life that is peaceful and prosperous, my own little life" (actually he's much more interested in that than I am because I am sick of being terrorized by this administration and I want to do what I can to eliminate this). I think this is how so many Americans feel they just don't want to be bothered to have to reclaim their Democracy or fight for their freedoms, etc. etc. Now, there are many who are awake and aware and plenty willing...but you know what I mean.

So it dawns on my that I must tell people that they must awake from their dangerous slumber and fight for their rights before they have none left.

We have to snap out of it.

4. I Hate This Whole Situation Because...
...a few years ago I wanted to kill myself & then decided to live. I did pretty well for a couple of years, & then Bush came in. Ever since, I have wondered if I did the right thing by living, & it makes me angry. I feel like Bush & the others have taken my "new beginning" away from me. So if we ever get a good chance to get rid of these sick neocons, I will be very happy. It will mean that I will get my better life after all.

6. I have an idea
I don't know if this helps or not, but I truly believe that if Fitzgerald indicts Libby or Rove, it will be a major turning point. The public will essentially write Bush off. As long as he is deemed irrelevant, he cannot continue to do great harm to this country.

The best we can do is to weaken him to the point that he can do no more harm because the public will no longer listen to him. So, keep hoping that indictments will come down next month. If so, Bush's reign is over.

It's great that you care so much. You have great character because you care so much. That's what's so special about the DU community. So many of us give a damn.

8. you're right,
and you describe the majority of Americans very well: they don't want to be bothered. For the most part, until they are personally affected by something, they won't do anything to mitigate it. The key is getting people to understand that the ARE personally affected by the misadministration of our government. And how do we do that? I wish I knew. Logic doesn't work, and screaming and yelling just gets you in trouble....

11. When in Rome do as the Romans do...
Bush and his administration use scare tactics. It seems to be all they know.

1) "Our fate may soon come in the form of a mushroom cloud."

2) "We must fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here."

3) "Terror level is elevated to Orange." (Or is that red?)

So for starters lets try:

1) "Our borders are insecure, and we are letting terrorist in to kill us over here, why Bush looks for them over there.

2) "Our fate may soon come in the form of chaos and gloom when the economy collapses, because our government is broke. A great depression is on the way unless our government stops over spending. China owns this country and will soon make good on their plan to destroy us by cashing in our promissory notes. Seventy five percent of the American population will be out of work, and millions will lose their homes when the banks collapse. Crime will rise to an all time high when people fight for basic necessities to stay alive."

3) "Gasoline, fuel oil and natural gas prices will continue to rise if nothing is done soon. Pray for a warm winter or people may freeze due to shortages."

I could go on, but I'm making my self depressed.
