Syria is to Lebanon as the US is to Iraq, except that most of the Lebanese population (the Muslims) support Syria because they hate the Christians.

Israel doesn't want to stop aggressing its neighbors. It's what happens when you have the world's only superpower playing favorites and supplying you with more nuclear weapons than Britain.

a border village in South Lebanon bombed, some shots fired across the border.. there may be more later, however.

There will probably be a reaction from the Lebanese side, and then Bush will scold them for the "aggression" and turn a blind eye as Israel drops more bombs. That's the usual formula from the 90s, anyway, I doubt it will be any different.
