Clinton: FEMA chief should be experienced
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/16/clinton.fema/index.html

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Former President Bill Clinton on Friday said it should be required that any future head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency have "prior experience in emergency management."

"When a disaster strikes, that person becomes the most important person in the federal government," Clinton said on CNN's "Larry King Live."...

..."I think the most important thing is you probably should have some sort of requirement that anybody who has the job has prior experience in emergency management," Clinton told King. "It's a very serious, important job."...

..."I made it a Cabinet-level agency, and when a disaster struck, everybody in the government worked for that person."...

Sort of says it all, doesn't it?

4. File under "DUH" ...
but then we have a leader who seems to think things like experience aren't core requirements for important positions.

7. He did.
He did it by outlining the differences between his department and Bush's department and the Bush department's failure. Its just been so long since we've seen finesse that we've forgotten what it looks like.

8. Dave Paulison is a start
Career Big City Fire Chief, Masters in Public Administration, active in the First Responder professional community. PLUS- has actually fought fires and administered CPR and intubated and started IV's and done fire investigations and code inspections.

These are the MINIMUM requirements.

Not an Arabian Hose contest judge and a city manager intern.
