About the 24th...I think we need to do a media blast.
Surely they're aware, but I haven't heard anything about it on MSM and just read another poster's comment that s/he hadn't either.

Would a heads-up and a request for coverage be a worthwhile task, do you think?

1. I am very concerned... I was at the March for Women's Lives in April
and that was the most massive march I had ever seen, it got barely any coverage. It felt great to be there, but still, it deserved media attention.

2. I'm happy to help blast, but what to say?
My concern is, what can we say or do to get coverage?

Seems like the only things they WILL cover are either violence or ridiculousness.

What about the angle of, what are the * Admin plans to contain it? Remember how they rounded everyone up in NYC during the RNC, violated their free speech rights for a few days, then released them when it was safe?

I mean, WHERE is the protest going to take place, what assurances are there that folks will be allowed to be in a place where they can be seen, etc.?

Maybe something about that should be part of the blast?

4. Ooh yeah, I think those are good questions to raise.
Especially since the recent decisions about arrest and detainment. If we can get them asking questions, maybe each one of them will be afraid to miss out on something the other might possibly cover...heh heh, as always, and we COULD get some real coverage!

I'm going to work on drafting an email to send around tomorrow and if this thread sinks I'll start a better, more definitive one. =) I really really want to get this going.

3. msm coverage of DC IMPEACHMENT Rally :)
Having "their own" in danger in New Orleans actually caused the msm to do the WORK of reporting the facts to the American PEOPLE..thank God! I think they are actually awakened to the necessity of a FREE press, & the threats to OUR Rights, if they fail to deliver the FACTS.
I have been emailing them already, with gratitude & tips( ! )on Gulf Relief FAILURES;today,I began asking them to cover the anti-war,PRO PEACE demonstration that is evolving into an IMPEACHMENT MOVEMENT. yea! There are several sites I'm supporting, with petitions, one over 25,000, the other over 500,000..These needless deaths, the suffering, has called every ONE to check ourSelves. Yes, call on the media to bear Witness for US, for ALL of US.
Visualize IMPEACHMENT!~===]

5. IDEA (better late than never): WE NEED CELEBRITIES
I mean, if all the coolest rock bands, hottest celebrities came to join and perform at the protest, not only would the protest be a blast, but the media could not resist covering it!

I hope to heck the organizers have been brainstorming this long before us. Anyone know what's going on?

8. Any estimations on how big the demonstrations will be?
I'm hoping to take advantge of the publicity of this demonstration to send an info pack to the media here in France. The goal is to show the French media how Bush manipulated public opinion (WMD etc) when preparations for Iraq actually got underway the week after inauguration day.

I've got all the info - timelines etc, but I want to make sure that the event will be big enough to attract international attention. Timing is essential when working with the media.

Any ideas how many people are expected? 1000 - 10 000 - 100 000 or more?

If this turns out like the election fraud demonstrations in december where there were less that a hundred, this could be a flop.

There would probably need to be over 20 000 to start to attract attention.

You're my eyes and ears in the States and I thank all the DUers for their work to help the truth prevail.

Please try to give me a reasonable estimation of the interest the march has generated, as I must go out on a limb and I could loose a lot of credibilty points if this doesn't live up to expectations.

PS Excuse the crossposting on several threads, but I want to get a good feel for the atmosphere.

9. It will be bigger if folks can find places to sleep!
Anyone within reasonable driving distance of D.C. or the DC Metro, PLEASE offer to put up a marcher or two who will need a place to crash for the weekend.

Here are just some of the sites where you can offer space:

10. A local DC station mentioned the demonstration this morning.
Their estimate was 100,000.
