The Catholic Church and Arnold S. and Rudy G.
Okay the Catholic Church tossed me out for being pro choice and pro gay rights in two thousand. In the last election the had a fit that John Kerry was reciving communion and attending mass. I was wondering if the RC Church had said anything about the girly man Arnold, who I hear is going to run for reelection in CA, and the Presidential front runner Rudy Guilliani for supporting the same social issues that Senator Kerry and I do.
Come on Catholic Church show some spine and consitency. You can't let those two walk can you? It would send a bad message to your base if you do. Remember where money lies honor dies.

1. Arnie is safe. They wouldn't cross swords with the Kennedys.
I don't know why Rudy gets a pass, but maybe he sweetens the coffers in other ways that we don't know about.

6. Yep
That really pissed me off what they did. *sigh* That's one of the many reason's why I'm not a Catholic. My church is pretty independent so I'm thankful for that. Besides, even if my church said to vote for Bush I'd rebel and vote for Kerry.

7. Also my whole family is still catholic
Me I can't even attend mass or step foot in the door to see my nieces play without people saying that I am a hypocrite. I think that's why I get busted up on it at times.

3. Something tells me that Ahnold and Rudy will skate through
with the RC's overwhelming support. I think their trashing of Kerry was a strictly partisan maneuver by rwing catholics.

11. Reason #7349 I'm not Catholic anymore
http://www.americanvoice2004.org/askdave/16askdave.html

"The final issue concerning the denial of Communion as a sanction is whether it is even-handedly applied. In their June resolution, the U.S. Bishops warned, “the polarizing tendencies of election-year politics can lead to circumstances in which Catholic teaching and sacramental practice can be misused for political ends.”

Some observers note that the way the sanction has been applied so far leads one to surmise a political rather than a moral objective. While Catholic Democratic Governor McGreevey was sanctioned, in part for his support of access to abortions, Catholic Republican Governor Pataki of New York, who holds similar views on abortion, was not. Sacramento Bishop Wiegand chastised Catholic Democratic Governor Gray Davis for supporting abortion rights and recommended that he refrain from taking Communion. But he has issued no warning to Catholic Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who also supports abortion rights.<19> Indeed, Reverend Reese has noted that in a private Mass in 2003, the Pope himself gave Communion to Tony Blair, a pro-abortion Episcopalian.<20>"
