Name one world leader who has done all of these things in the last 5 years
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 12:29 AM by Melodybe
other than Hugo Chavez.

If you don't agree, answer these five questions and tell me what one person has done all those things on a global scale?

______________________________________________________

In the last five years...

Who else has stood up and damanded to have the same time as Bush?

Who else has been heroically applauded by the world's diplomats for eviscerating Bush at the UN?

Who else has stood up to the big oil companies and said NO?

Who else has been offering a beautiful and glorious religous voice to the left?

Who else has had the nerve to call Bushco and the United States out for being an empire of terrorism, not back down once?

____________________________________

Hugo Chavez is the only political leader on Earth to do all those things.

I'm telling you, if you disagree, you just don't know Chavez.

Here is Chavez's recent interview with Ted Koppel

By the way props to Ted Koppel for even doing the interview in the first place. It could have been better but Chavez steals the show anyway.

http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/International/story?id=1134098&page=4

Chavez:

I've been in revolt for years against ignominy, against injustice, against inequality, against immorality, against the exploitation of human beings.

One of the greatest rebels, who I really admire: Christ. He was a rebel. He ended up being crucified. He was a great rebel. He rebelled against the established power that subjugated. That is what rebellion is; it's rebellion out of love for human beings. In truth, that is the cause, the cause of love: love for every human being, for every women, for every child, for every man, for every brother.

I believe you to be a brother. I don't see you as above or below. I don't feel superior or inferior to you. We're on an equal basis. Your cameraman, your photograph are equal. The men and women who are seeing you, who are seeing us are equal. They're true brothers.

(snip)

We love the people of the United States, and our desire is to have a world of brothers in peace. God grant that that be the case.

*************************************************
If you dislike Chavez's references to Christianity, let me ask you, did it both you when Martin Luther King referred to god?

Just asking.

*************************************************

OR HERE:

Hugo Chavez eviscerates Bush at the UN, gets cheering and applause from all the world diplomats!

It is the best article ever!

I love Hugo Chavez!

I want to get the word out on Chavez, I have a feeling that the media might try to swiftboat him more in the near future.

And I don't think he deserves it.

PR, why should they worry about it?

I certainly hope that Howard Dean is meeting with Chavez this week, I think that they would get along famously.

I love her, thats so cool.

Thanks for telling me about it!

12. Oh that is sooooo to bad you didn't get to listen to her after your call .
because she found the soundbite (she said Melody said to look it up so I did) and then she aired it and they were in total disbelief and then she kept airing it and I was so thrilled and proud to be a DU'r cuz you told her about it - she didn't even believe you when you told her. I swear, maybe it's just me and my connection to DU but you changed the show by informing of her of that because you changed her show after that. Maybe you could order a copy or something. You would LOVE how the show changed direction after your call. PS, you were nervous and that was what made it GREAT, and your baby crying made it GREATER. You might not understand that, but it really didd - I would be nervous - hell I'm too chicken to even call but you came off as nervous but totally intellegent and I was just so proud to have ties to DU

53. I was at my desk, streaming AAR at the time...
saw your thread and started to pay attention to what was being said on the Randi Rhodes show. Although you sounded nervous at the beginning of the call, by the end, you totally rocked! It's great to hear DUers on the radio, and I'm psyched that it was another DUer that informed Randi of what Wolf said! I did a silent cheer at my desk, and then realized that my office door was open...I think I turned it into a "stretch and yawn"...But that call may just have been the highlight of that long day at the office!

:hi:

6. I don't mind at all Chavez casting his message in a religious light.
He's doing it for the right reasons, reasons I think anyone could agree with. And aren't those reasons, taken together, the very same message Christ was trying to send?

* does it for ALL the wrong reasons, none of the right ones, and does so deliberately. There's a special place all his own waiting for him somewhere, and I think we all know it's not the Amway Grand Plaza. Or the Super 8.

8. Hold the hero worship
Chavez looks good right now...but then so have a lot of people, only to be revealed later as tyrants with loaded dungeons, or the equivalent.

Support him, back him....and find out more about him

But don't worship him. We've been down this road too many times before.

I don't really like greedy rich people.

If Chavez is taking care of the poor in his country and ours, he is my hero.

I don't know too many other world leaders who have tried to help our cause.

No body is perfect, even King had his issues.

Right now Chavez is doing and saying every thing that I need in a leader.

Seriously is there anyone else to compare him to in our current political climate?

Chavez singled out the United States as the most wasteful country, saying he was shocked when a quarter of all the cars he counted Thursday morning on New York streets had one person in them.

"That's crazy, one person with a huge car ... that is using up gas and polluting the atmosphere," he said at a news conference. "The world cannot tolerate this model of development called the American way of life."

I think this guy is a problem to Bushco because he is not as selfish and greedy as Bushco would like. I like how he points out what true Christian ideals are and how Jesus was a radical reformer. Hard to believe that the Christo-fascist zombie brigade in our country is so ignorant. Alas.
