Rove "off the record"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2005/09/17/rove-off-the-record-on-ka_n_7513.html

Karl Rove, President Bush's top political advisor and deputy White House chief of staff, spoke at businessman Teddy Forstmann's annual off the record gathering in Aspen, Colorado this weekend. Here is what Rove had to say that the press wasn't allowed to report on.

On The Anti-War Movement: Cindy Sheehan is a clown. There is no real anti-war movement. No serious politician, with anything to do with anything, would show his face at an anti-war rally...

snip

In attendance at the conference, among others were: Harvey Weinstein, Brad Grey, Michael Eisner, Les Moonves, Tom Freston, Tom Friedman, Bob Novak, Barry Diller, Martha Stewart, Margaret Carlson, Alan Greenspan, Andrea Mitchell, Norman Pearlstein and Walter Isaacson

1. Wow, K-K-K-arl on the same bill as Martha Stewart.

What was the topic for the conference?

And BTW, I'm not entirely of the belief the remarks were "off-the-record". Sounds like a fake-out to me, that KR wanted misinformation to be leaked out, sort of a sleight-of-hand trick.

My understanding of how Rove works is similar to the shtick Andy Kaufman used to do: set up an image that was totally an illusion and untrue but was totally accepted and believed.

3. Perhaps Martha Gave
Rove and Novak some pointers on how to adjust to life in prison? At least Martha stood up and took her punishment. I sure hate to see her rubbing noses with the likes of those two. I'd think it would be a violation of her parole.

2. I love to read articles at the Huffington Post. However,
I avoid the posted comments like the plague. I do not understand why the Huffington Post does not delete some of the responses from neocons over there. They contain death threats against Cindy Sheehan and the most vile language and insults I have ever seen. If someone speaks like that on DU, the message is deleted within minutes. The neocons have obviously infiltrated the posted comments section as there are more negative/nasty comments than there are good ones. Those people are scary and their language borders on illegal. The Huffington Post needs to delete them rather than letting these idiots get away with it. Needless to say, I hardly ever go to that site.

6. Oh, I disagree...
I think the vile and putrid comments made by these scum suckers ought to remain for all to see. Nothing shows their real nature better then their own words.

If Huffington Post is "letting these idiots get away with it", it's only letting them hang themselves with their own insidious words.

Let the world see just what trash they really are. I don't think their stupidity should be covered up... I think it should be on display!

Peace!

8. I think you have a point
I have been disgusted with the posts of so many, I read headlines and that's about it. It certainly does prove the hatred of the wingnuts, they are repulsive but more importantly, they are driven by hate and intolerence. Oh yeah, stupidity and blindness.

5. It is going to be interesting to see how that bile is regurgitated by
the press attending that event.

9. Can you imagine a greater audacity than Rove calling Cindy Sheehan
a clown. She lost her son in a war started by lies from his administration and he had that to say. This whole country should be in an outrage just for that remark. I think his punishment should be to walk down the road to the Baghdad airport that is claimed to be safe now.
