4. From the DC Forum-lots of info there:
Friday Night Party in DC new location: Hawk & Dove - Sept 23rd
If you haven't read or heard, the original party location for the Friday Night Pre-protest party was, well, burnt down. And even though they say they'll be reopened in a couple of weeks I have not guarentee it'll be by Sept 23rd.

Anyhow - so the party will be at the Hawk & Dove on Sept 23rd from 7-10. I'm still contacting them about where the best place in there to gather for drinks but it's a large place with several floors and we can also congregate outside for beverages too.

More details to come!!

9. When did the 9:30 Club burn down? I saw so many great bands
there when I lived in DC. I loved that place.

16. 9:30 club? You mean capital lounge?
It happened about a month ago but it wasn't totally ruined. There was talk that it would be open in about a month but when planning the DC party I didn't want to be making any last minute changes had it not been available. So when I was in DC the end of August we were at the Hawk & Dove and figured it would do!

I used to live within walking distance of the Hawk and Dove. Wish I could join all of you!

10. i thought the meeting place had been changed (again)
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 11:15 AM by faithnotgreed
i * think * it was middledemocrat (a moderator) who said the place we were supposed to meet gave wrong information and was charging $150 an hour because the size of the group
and the alternative was a hookah bar in tenleytown

did i dream that or what is the update

thanks

15. Hiya, here's the information you need :D
Friday night was moved to Hawk & Dove because the Capital Lounge had a fire about a month ago. EarlG is going to post new updates on the front page.

There are 2 parties on Saturday night. RFDs was suppose to be a 'Just show up when you can after the protest for a few drinks' but then when EP decided to reserve a room RFDs did what they are suppose to do and charged us. So his party is moved out to the suburbs where there will probably be less protest traffic but more room for DUers.

But there are some of us who prefer staying in the city and close to the Mall where there will be activities including the Operation Cease Fire concert (Gregory Palast and Cindy Sheehan will be speaking there)until 1am in the morning. Since we knew there is much confusion with all the changes some people, including myself, will hang out at RFDs (probably near the patio so I can get fresh air) and then head back to the concert.

I hope you have a chance to make one or all of the parties. If you also want to hang out at the http://www.opceasefire.org/ Operation Ceasefire concert I could always use more company.

This protest is going to be an all night event and I hoping to spend some serious time there!

18. thanks lynne -
im glad to know i get to do the concert then because when i saw the hookah bar was also saturday night i wasnt sure what to do
but i definitely want to hang at the concert - the lineup is great - so rfds sounds fine

i basically live in between the 2 places you mention and would far prefer to be around the concert area
and then i get to meet you and some others so im glad for that

just let me know the plan

oh yeah
are you still doing the auction because i have my "get your war on shirt" to donate as mentioned
