5. Yup. That's what my cat would look like

IF I could get him near water. The vet always asks if I want my cat bathed while there. I don't have enough insurance for the damage and injury he might do. I can't believe they are doing this without heavy gloves.

7. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Do you thin that animals suffer from some of the same psychological disorders that we do? I do, and then they can't communicate to us exactly how they feel. I just keep thinking that these pets have been through everything that their owners went through, including abandonment.

I hope this little baby finds a nice home and is pampered like royalty for the rest of his/her life. All nine of them!

9. They remember traumas. I think that is why some dogs do not children

etc. They may have been hurt by them when they were puppies.

I also think they are very resilient though and a good home with caring people will make them happy again.

Alex Ray stopped The Common Man's van in the streets of New Orleans, whistled, hollered, barked like a dog and listened in the eerie stillness for a dog to bark back.

If he heard something, the New Hampshire restaurant owner, along with Cathy Bentwood, a Plymouth nurse, clawed their way in and up walls at times, removed air conditioning units to get in, and accessed the emaciated and frightened fury victims left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Ray and Bentwood were part of a massive volunteer effort last week organized by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Their aim, to find and feed some of the estimated 100,000 dogs and countless cats left behind.

Many Gulf Coast residents expected to get back home after a day or two, but it has been weeks since the levees broke in New Orleans and there's no sign people will be allowed to return to many of the neighborhoods for some time...
