It's really good, and very cheap.(Espresso grind is $2.59/ 10 oz)

It is basically espresso coffee in a can. I think it's a Puerto Rican or Dominican brand. I used to buy coffee beans and grind them, but after finding bustelo, what's the point of all that trouble.

I think they make the best espresso. I have the feeling that Folgers and most major American brands are a blend of Robusta and Arabica beans. Robusta beans cost much less to grow because the coffee plant has a greater yield and is more pest resistant. But the flavor difference is really telling. 100% Arabica makes a big difference in my opinion.

19. GREAT coffee, but at $$25-30+ per pound it's a tad expensive.

We brought home Blue Mountain from Jamaica and swore we'd never drink anything else until we had to pay HUGE $$$$$ here for it. It's great coffee, but DAMN, the price! Can it be purchased directly from Jamaica? What does COSTCO charge for it? Does COSTCO sell it online? Do you know? We have no COSTCO here. :(

Procter and Gamble is warning consumers about a possible Folgers coffee shortage -- or at the very least it may come in unfamiliar packaging.

P&G's New Orleans coffee plant was affected by Hurricane Katrina, but the company hopes to restore operations there soon.

Folks, I live in Foley, Alabama.
That's Alabama, with 4 "A"s.
We got a Winn-Dixie and a WalMart Super Center, and I don't do WalMart.
Besides Folgers, they carry Maxwell House and Sanka.
We AIN'T got no lah-dee-dah, frou-frou coffee boutiques.

It's a hard life, but the fresh shrimp makes up for it.

My friend here in B'ham who manages a grocery store says that it's not a shortage per se, but a distribution problem. They can't get the Folger's coffee to distribution centers and retailers the way they did before the storm, and there is a surcharge on it because of the additional transportation costs. Some retailers are declining to pay the surcharge, so they won't have it for a while.

Same thing is true with Domino's Sugar.

Most of the canned commercial coffees, such as Folgers, are made from nasty bulk coffee from Vietnam - stuff that they purchase for about twenty cents a pound and then mark up four thousand percent for this swill.

If you don't buy from a local roaster, consider roasting your own coffee. You can buy unroasted coffee from a national green coffee coop (http://www.greencoffee.coop) for about two dollars a pound, and this stuff is all excellent estate coffee - far better quality than Starbucks offers. You can buy an inexpensive roaster from http://sweetmarias.com or http://coffeebeancorral.com. It takes very little time to roast your own coffee, and with the small home roasting appliances available you don't need a lot of skill. The savings from roasting your own coffee will quickly pay for the cost of the roaster, and the quality of your coffee will be superb, since freshly-roasted coffee will always have a better taste and aroma than stuff that was preground a year ago or even the Starbucks beans that you might buy, since you have no idea what the actual roasting date of their beans are - and from my experience with Starbucks, their coffee beans taste OLD.

Coffee prices will indeed skyrocket in the next few months, since New Orleans was a major coffee port and warehousing facility. Load up on green coffee and roast your own and save a ton of money.
