1900 U.S. Military fatalities in Iraq
Bear in mind that this doesn't include civilian mercenaries, and it doesn't include some of the ten-plus-thousand wounded who've inevitably died since being evacuated. This is just uniformed dead.

The only reasons the number is so low are that the Iraqis are concentrating on killing each other and we're mostly in a very defensive mode.

On to Syria.

5. My mistake
It was an honest error, from moving too quickly.

Your assumption of it being a lie is ill-mannered at best. I've read your rages about various articles claiming underreporting, but I'm not one of your nemeses.

Thanks for the sanctimoniousness; there's a difference between being misinformed and an outright liar, just as there's a difference between being a self-appointed voice for truth and being the shrieking avenger of all incorrectness.

12. Riiiiight
Thi outright lie is spread here on DU fourteen times a week. There's a difference between being misinformed and being an obstinate disseminator of bullshit. And your damn right I'm ill-mannered towards people who continue to spread this bullshit, and if that's sanctimonious, too goddamn bad.

15. Stop telling lies. That's what I say every time I see * on TV. I think
it's kind of rude of me to say that.

7. Not that it's a bad thing
but everything appears to go slow right now. The cost clock has slowed down, the casualties have slowed in part due to our forces forting up, and, iraqis killing each other right now.

I don't know if this go slow is due to our military recognizing the madness of king georgie* and trying to minimize their losses, or simply running out of money to conduct operations.

9. If you'll go to
http://icasualties.org you'll see the slowdown, by this time the last couple of months we had registered 50-60 kia. I know I've been on this since day one, before that actually.

11. There is no slowdown

Been on it from Day 1?

Except for two spikes in 2004 (April and December), 2005 has been higher than 2004 and definitely higher than 2003.

See Chart at

http://icasualties.org/oif/US_Chart.aspx

And what about deaths of Iraqis (Police and Civilians) - or do they not matter?

Slowdown: Are you forgetting Afghanistan where the American casulalties 77 in 2005 are the highest yet of all years, or is 77 lower than 52, 47, 43 and 12?

2005 77 (till Sept 15th)
2004 52
2003 47
2002 43
2001 12
Total 231

I do not why you guys want to delude yourselves.

Is this a Freeper forum?

14. I'm talking about this month j
Not overall, no it has only increased, but if you look at month per month you'll see what I'm speaking about. Another thing that just occured to me is maybe they're husbanding their resources to use against Syria or Iran.

16. They are concentrating on trapping the US forces

Those who know guerrilla warfare can see the strategy of the freedom fighters.

You cannot judge the situation on a month by month basis. There were spikes of 135 killed last year but the following months they were lower - did that mean something similar to you?

17. If you pay attention carefully you will see that it has not slowed down...
except for any given month. Last month was one of the worst in recent history. You can go back far enough and find a few low months scattered here and there...but they are always followed by high months. I don't believe it has slowed down or sped up but has been a constant drum beat. If you plot a regression curve (a statistical method you may or may not be familiar with but it shows trends) from the beginning of the war until now what you will find is that it is virtually flat (i did a regression analysis myself).

If you don't believe me try it yourself. You can find a regression command in Excel. Just plot the dead for every month and go to the regression command and analyze the whole series of data points.

10. 2000, 2100, 2200, 2300 when is the number high enough
What is the cost of a life? How many more have to be slaughered far away? How many more children and elderly are left to die in a hurricane? How many more unborn babies have to be shot?

When are we going to realize that each and every death was in vain? That there is no glory in a war. There is no glory in leaving people to die in a disaster.

We weap at the sight of a dead body. We cannot weap at numbers. They are cool, they are static, but they tell a tale of people unknown who had so much love in their hearts. And they are gone. For what? For power, for money, none of these things are relevant. The miracle of life is such that we cannot reproduce it. We can only look at it and be amazed at what those little fingers can do. What the brain is capable of thinking. Yet we destroy what we cannot create.

Shame on you, Mister President. Shame on you, Mister General. Shame on you, Mister CEO. You think that you are so powerful and so rich and destroy people, but it is your heart what is being destroyed.
