Who else thinks Bush is deliberately trying to destroy the government?
Appointing veterinarians to oversee womens health issues, a lawyer with no disaster relief experience, Karl Rove to head the reconstruction.... the list goes on.

That's exactly what they are doing. Insofar as there is a federal government, it is only to be used to insulate the elite; enrich companies and persons in league with the rulers; find, imprison and/or kill defined-criminals; and wage war on the behalf of corporations (and the corporate power structure). Elsewise, there is no room or money for social causes, health care or even education.

17. I would say Cheney and the neocons more so than Rove, as the
architect for the 'new' american century. Rove is and always has been a bully behind the scenes, making up lies and digging up dirt and studying the lies/propaganda that are required to win over votes (abortion, anti-gay marriage, gun rights, the death penalty, and HA-HA these same people? Moral Majority?) He is not behind the ruination of our Government for Big Business, IMO. The Cheneys, Wolfowitzs, Bush I and Jeb, PNAC members, JINSA and AIPAC members...Bush is a pawn, and too stupid to be able to speak about ANYTHING on his own, without guidance. He even has to ask permission to pee, for gosh sakes!

11. Who has profitted this entire administrations' tenure? The rich,
Big Business, and the MIC (Military Industrial Complex). They make money (interms of contributions, negative ads etc) and win votes by cutting taxes for those who can most afford to pay. The war profiteers make way too much money on no bid contracts, and like vultures that clean up after the dead, these same businesses are now being rewarded to clean up after NOLA, while paying workers minimal wages. We are not going to increase taxes, but BORROW money to repair the damage, which means that many generations to come will be repaying the loans that this administration initiated. And the $$$$ keeps rolling in for these evil people.

HOW TO DENY HALLIBURTON, BECHTEL, GE, BLACKWATER MERCENARIES, FLUOR, etc. OUR TAXPAYERS MONEY? IS IT POSSIBLE?

... as they follow their insatiable appetites for power, wealth, and privilege. (Bulls have nothing against china.)

The quaint notion of "public service" has absolutely no relationship to what these people are doing - it's a completely foreign concept to them, hardly surfacing even in their hypocritical rhetoric. It's all about them - nobody else. Their base truly is the have's and the have-more's - and only the loyal have any say in tactics. The 'paralysis' and delay we saw in the aftermath of Katrina was wholly about self-serving considerations - devoid of any humanitarian impulses of any kind.

14. Reminds me of Cultural Revolution
in China. In an effort to destroy the class structure people were taken out of the jobs and professions they knew and put into jobs they knew nothing about.

In this case, government is being destroyed by putting people into positions they know nothing about, so when people turn to that agency or office, they are stymied and give up.

15. Bush's only goal: Create a nation (and world) of slaves
The man himself is an absolute idiot, but he is, as they say, a "useful idiot", for all of the hyperwealthy and powerful that really pull the strings in this world.

George W. is the perfect avatar for the wishes for "the powers that be". He is absolutely amoral, as is his entire family. No suffering, no indignity, no outrage to any human would ever trouble the conscience of the Bushes for a second. But Dubya also has the added advantage of being dumb as a rock. No original thought ever enters his head. He must rely solely on other evil people to tell him what to do every single second of the day. He excels at being dumb and uninformed. It's the only thing at which he excels.

I really believe that the empowered heads of all the multinational corporations of the world have looked upon our country with contempt for many decades, because we once had such a high standard of living in comparison to the rest of the world. They are desperately trying to change that, and as fast as they possibly can. With the help of their chosen Dubya, they are succeeding spectacularly.

16. There is plenty of evidence to back up this theory
And without a democratic Republic, the filthy rich can basically do whatever they want to the people. The bush administration is moving things toward a police state, moving in the military, the gov as it would exist would have all corrupt judges and all the weapons stockpiles. So how would the people fight it? And the people, everyone would be forced to work for the rich corporations without any protections like environmental laws, labor unions, food safety, healthcare, and on and on.

That's been their goal since Reagan and they've made great progress. All the idiots who've been defending and supporting them and still do, are destroying our country, our democracy and all hopes for the future of all our children.

I've never thought * was ignorant. Everything they have done is carefully orchestrated. FEMA underfunded and run by incompetents - then the stupid American people will turn over more power to * and to the Pentagon and take disaster response out of the hands of civilians and militarize it. Only one step from there.......

Would anyone think this is preposterous if I was describing any South American country in this way?

Of course their hideous plan will never succeed, but if this isn't stopped soon, within the next 10 years the US will look more and more like we've taken a time machine back to feudal/barbarian days.

He can't get rid of the entire government, because that would cut into the profits of Halliburton and his other cronies.

24. They are destroying the government & selling off the Commons
for pennies on the dollar to their rich corporate buddies.

A brief primer for those who have forgotten 5th grade social studies, the Commons are:

Our air
Our water
Septic systems
Transportation routs
Educational systems
Radio & TV spectrums
National health care (in every developed nation in the world except the richest one!)

and the most important of all . . . OUR GOVERNMENT!

Our founding fathers wanted to create a common institution -- our government -- owned by its own citizens, answerable to its own citizens & authorized to exist & continue to exist solely "by the consent of the governed."

We are entering what Thom Hartmann calls corporate feudalism. He states: "When the wealthiest in a society take over government & then weaken it so it no longer can represent the interests of the people, the transition has begun into a new era of feudalism."

Feudalism doesn't mean the end of government, but the subordination of government to the interests of the feudal lords -- CEOs, corporate officers, shareholders. Once the rich & powerful gain control of the government, they turn it upon itself, usually first eliminating its taxation process as it applies to themselves.

Sounds eerily familiar, doesn't it?

like Rove, Cheney and Bush. I think this might be a periodic thing that happens to societies where the government gets overtaken by thugs and we will have to really dig ourselves out of this one. I feel like our senators and congress people should be some kind of a shield to our society from this kind of tyranny, but apparently not.

Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 05:02 PM by annces8
I saw this on another website blog, and had to re-post it, it was so funny.

BLIND LEADERS

Passengers on a plane are waiting for the flight to leave. The entrance opens, and two men walk up the aisle, dressed in pilot uniforms. Both are wearing dark glasses. One is using a seeing-eye dog, and the other is tapping his way up the aisle with a cane.

Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start.

The passengers begin glancing nervously, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming. The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport.

As it begins to look as though the plane will never take off, that it will plow into the water, screams of panic fill the cabin. But at that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air.

Up in the cockpit, the co-pilot turns to the pilot and says, "You know, Bob, one of these days, they're going to scream too late, and we're all gonna die."

36. I think dismantling social programs is the agenda. These aren't "small"
government Republicans. Federal growth and spending has mushroomed under the Bush administration. It's a reallocation of Federal funds. And a reallocation of Federal influence on a massive scale. Not an annihilation of the Federal government.

And, more to the point of your post - I think this is considered "business as usual" in this administration, to appoint cronies to posts regardless of qualifications. It is a norm for these guys, and not seen as unethical or out-of-the-ordinary. The Federal government is their vehicle, not their nemesis.

I can almost see this as if it's already happened. :scared:

For the next three years, * and the PNAC Boys run the government into the ground, rack up the Debt from Hell, and generally scorch the earth.

Then, they allow a "patsy" Democrat to win the presidency in '08, and blame the fallout of **all** right-wing escapades from 2001-2008 on this person.

They return to office in 2012, and pick up where they left off. :evilfrown:

BTW, I'll be happy as hell if this scenario doesn't come to pass.
