2. It's the headline writer IMO

I saw both appearances and it was not "withering". I like Clinton much more than many DUers, but he was not out of bounds or disrespectful in any of his comments. He was calm and rational...and as always, brilliant.

.... why the headline writer chose 'withering' -- brilliance coupled with the truth and delivered in a calm manner could be perceived as a category 5 event by many in the media :evilgrin:

5. I can't imagine why Bill thinks

there would ever be a time when Iraqi security forces of any kind would be disposed, never mind able, to serve effectively on the payroll of the US, thereby enabling them to withdraw.

Even now, the soldiers in the field never know which of them are acting as intelligence agents for the other side. Just that there seems to be more than enough to endanger their lives on every sortie.

9. While I don't think it is quite what I

would call withering ( "withering" to me is something along the lines of "Holy Christ, what the f**k is that moron Bush up to now. He's dumber than a sack of hammers and meaner than cat shit" - followed, of course, by basically what Clinton said), it is very forceful considering it comes from an ex-president ( although it does seem like Carter doesn't quite follow that rule cvery often, thank God.) It also has that great Clinton technique of hammering you with a seemingly innocuous statement. In this case, it has to be his comments of Witt's competence ( and indirectly, his own) in contrast to Brown and Bush's incompetence and privilege: "But both of us came out of environments with a disproportionate number of poor people." Clinton does tick me off ( all that potential) but I really do like him.

On Edit: I voted for Clinton twice but have always thought of him as "too smooth". No, I never can say that I EVER cared for him. He was the friendly but horny frat boy type, whereas Dubya is the pissed off drunkard.

Bottom Line: They are the same entity - Corporate Loving Politicians. F**k all "bought off" politicians!
