Gay man receives $1.7M in abuse case settlement (donates some to Katrina)

<<< Ending a civil lawsuit he filed against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco after being sexually abused in his teens by a priest, a local gay man won a $1.7 million settlement from the Catholic Church. The agreement is part of a $4 million settlement the church agreed to pay in order to end four lawsuits filed by abuse victims of the now defrocked Monsignor Patrick O'Shea.

Kenneth McDonald, who owns the Castro liquor shop Friendly Spirits with his partner of 18 years, David Jessup, charged in his suit that O'Shea sexually abused him a dozen times at the priest's Lake Berryessa property and in his dorm room at the San Francisco Archdiocesan seminary. He said he was stunned to learn that the church had agreed to settle the case on Friday, August 26, and that the money is little consolation for the suffering he endured.

"No amount of money can bring back or change what I experienced at the hands of this monster," said McDonald, who donated a portion of his settlement to the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts. "However, I think that for the Catholic Church to change they need to be forced to change. If I've been able to do that through the settlement so be it." >>>

What a very strong man I see in this article. I am also very horrified to admit that I know who this defrocked priest/Monsignor O'Shea is. I had not kept up with this story as I've distanced myself from the Church for many years now.

I am now totally disgusted with the Catholic Church and the the Bishop that was in charge of the San Francisco Archdiocese, Bishop Quinn during the time this story broke a few years ago. What a hypocrite you are Quinn, and no, you don't deserve being called "Bishop Quinn". Sorry you lying hypocrital piece of SHIT! Quinn knew and ignored O'Shea's actions and promoted him to being a Monsignor while both of you them were busy collecting money, embezzling money, while simultaneously laying guilt trips on all of the Catholics in San Francisco for the most minor of "sins" so to speak.

I am so very disgusted and sad for all of those (apparently 200+) young boys (now grown men) that are permanently scarred for life by actions of a pervert pretending to be a man of God.

Where is this monster Patrick O'Shea now. Does anyone know? I hope to God he is in prison for life. I can find no answers anywhere on the internet as to where and what has become of the defrocked priest O'Shea. What an evil horrible pig.
