I saw this idiot's blog named "So I volunteered" posted on this message board that I frequent. I posted it here and someone on DU suggest I send it to snopes.com. I sent it to snopes and someone named Barbara e-mailed me and said they just wrote an article about it you can read it here.
http://www.snopes.com/katrina/personal/volunteer.aspWhile I was looking through this idiots blog I came across a woman who has access to the volunteer roster. She asked for the date and the guys name and he would not give her his name. She tells me she clicks on the guys screen name at myplace.com to look at his profile. On his blog he called the people that did not leave before the hurricane idiots and lazy and goes on to say their current conditions are their own fault. This guy (if he ever went in the first place) went there expecting to be greeted with freaking roses or something but of course he had his own misconceived notions about these people.
If you click on his profile at myspace turns out dude is having a hard time paying his rent. Looks like he is having "rent parties" and doesn't have a day job. I was told not to post his blog here but if you go to that snopes link I posted above they have a copy of his blog entry and other peoples accounts on helping Katrina victims.
It just goes to show that people like this idot love to project. On the bright side most of the blog community is on to him. If you google "So I volunteered" you will see that phrase associated with Urban legends because everyone knows he is a liar. As more crap about him comes out the more we see what kind of people are spreading these rumors. It doesn't surprise me in the least that some people have so much hate inside them. It's just sad they have to lie on people who have lost everything in order to feed their misconceived notions of a certain shade of people.
This is important to nip in the bud because people are still dying and people are still in need. These people do not need to deal with animosity and bigotry right now, they still need help.
