MOUNTAIN IRON — Dave Felten thought the certified letter at the end of August from the Mountain Iron-Buhl School District he worked for had something to do with his Sept. 1 return to work.

Instead, the notice from his Mesabi Academy High School supervisor, Peter Haapala, told him he was out of work. He was fired, as of Aug. 19, which the MI-B School Board approved last Monday.

“I was shocked to get that in the mail,’’ Felten said Friday, of his reaction to the notice.
