No sacrifices asked for Iraq, so public will not worry about the costs.
Budget also kept separate, so nobody can say it is cutting into other government programs. Summary: somebody else's kid using nobody's money.

6. I have to quit trying to figure out these people.
It gets me nowhere.

My sarcasm was aimed at the government, not you. Sorry if you thought that, I should have been clearer.

5. Using the world's love of the US dollar to go into debt. They could
have chosen "education" "health care" "infrastructure" "alternative energy". But no - the puff up in the amount of debt USA could sustain went to corporations (if UN had invaded Iraq - only locals could have bid on rebuilding contracts first) and tax cuts for the rich to keep the market roaring - while middle class & poor fight inflation caused by oil - with lower wages.

They could have used the excess ability to carry debt for something else.

They chose to give it to a small group of elites.

They choose. And the war has not been paid for.
