After reading the transcript of Chavez's interview with Ted Koppel
and having watched his U N address. I come away with a new level of respect for him. I feel so happy for the Venezuelan people. I still remember when we had a President who was trustworthy and honest. Who worked tirelessly for the betterment of the whole world not just his circle of "friends."
Hugo Chavez talks from his heart, whereas bush* talks through his ass, big difference.

1. I read the transcript also
Wish I had caught it, Ted Koppell did A nice job I thought, he treated Chavez with respect. I loved his UN address.

At times when I get dre pressed with what is happening here I focus on the progress that is going on in Latin America. Venezuela is so fortunate to have such a hero.

2. Well said. I have the same feelings for Chavez. Surely, out of
our whole nearly 300 million population, we can find a US Chavez...

3. If every decision a politician or a leader made had children in mind

first and foremost they could not go wrong.

(There is a difference between a 'politician' and a 'leader'.

If every decision a politician or leader made had the little people in mind first and foremost they could not go wrong.

Blessed are the children. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Instead, in this country, we have the United Corporations of America -it is delusional to still believe that this is a country for the people, by the people, and of the people. It is a country for, by, and of the CEO's, stockholders, military brass, reverends and vile political thieves.

It is refreshing and hopeful to have someone from the people be for the people. Viva Chavez.

Let's hope:

Our CIA or another countries Mossad does not take him out.
That our politicians do not attempt another coup.
That our politicians do not kill or maim any Venezuelans.
That Chavez stays on the path he's on.

He should probably go slow on making statements that he is going to help the poor here. Action could lead to war as it now appears U.S. politicians think that they own the poor. It appears they are not letting them go back to New Orleas, they are putting them in brainwashing camps, they are not letting ordinary people donate direct to them, they appear to be creating regimented disciplines in prison like settings.

While the poor in Venez helped reinstate Chavez after the U.S. State Dept, banking, military, intelligencee groups tried to kick him out - a duly elected President - the poor in this country are persona non grata. In this country, bigotry is on display and recorded on the telephone calling in to C-Span, radio shows and writing on the internet and to the newspapers. The robes are on.

What's that old saying? "If you want to live like a republican, vote democratic."

6. The transcript is good, but to see the interview was better...
It's hard to get a sense of just how warm, genuine and charismatic this man is from the transcript...

After reading the transcript, I got a sense that he was a little irritated and excited at times, but in watching the interview, the thought never entered my mind. He was very composed and calm throughout the whole affair.

If it exists on the web somewhere, you should watch it - it shows you something not often seem in the USA these days - how a REAL leader of his people acts and speaks.
