The Greatest function is one of the best designed forum tricks I've ever seen. Beats the slashdot "mod points" system because it puts relevant stories and threads together on one page.

And the Alerts, profiles, everything is great!

Kudos to the DU designers and DU admins that keep it running. There's nothing like it!

42. DU is the first site I go to when I log on in the morning...

...and it's where I stay while I drink my tea and try to wake up. The latter doesn't take long, as I soon find something to piss me off or otherwise exhilarate me in some way.

It's a great place to educate oneself. Often I'll start at DU, and when I find a subject that contains information I'm unfamiliar with, it's off to Wikopedia or Google.

Lately the subject for me has been Hugo Chavez. Lots of great audio at Democracy Now!

I don't post nearly as much as I read, but I am learning all the time from the wicked smart people here...I drink my coffee with the "greatest" page and have my martini at night with the "greatest" page. I end up following peoples posts to Raw Story, Truthout, Democracy Now, etc. I learned through DU that I can stream Air America Radio from my measly dial up modem on this computer. I now use TV for entertainment NEVER for news. All that is missing is the streaming of the Daily Show. I can not get it in my small town in Maine due to a cable monopoly. I depend on CrooksAndLiars.com to catch the good clips. I could live on Jon Stewart. Thanks Skinner...now could you come up with a progresssive underground and let the Dems earn us back?
