Vote Counting in CA

Do the Absentee Ballots get counted first? Here in Florida I've been told that the absentees get counted first.

1. They'll announce a preliminary count after 8 PM PDT today

An hour or so after the regular polls have closed.

Not all absentee ballots will have been received by the Secretary of State by that time. Some overseas voters (e.g. military) are still voting.

2. Military absentees must be received by 8pm.

If they are not, they are invalid. That's the rule.

3. I think they can fax them in if they're in a pinch

So I read on another thread here. I'd never heard of that before.

I believe in Florida the deadline is the FPO post mark date.

How do they ensure that someone doesn't fax thier ballot twice?

6. They have to include a signed affidavit
