1. Click on strategy meeting results. Then a call for a nation wide strike.
"On the 50th Anniversary of Dec. 1, 1955, the day in Montgomery Alabama that Rosa Parks sparked the modern Civil Rights Movement --
...
A Call for

2. Yep, however...

to get the most out of it, an event like this needs to work in conjunction with other attacks. As we engage our opponents, I always thought it should be a multi layed approach from many different directions, coordinated to put the maximum pressure on all of them. The goal is to put them off balance, so that they respond poorly.....

Also....A one day strike ? I wouldn't be too worried about it if I was a Repug. Rosa Parks triggered a strike that went on for a YEAR.
They'll never respect or fear us unless we follow through all the way. THAT is what gets results.

7. Agreed, the fact that SOMEBODY is even
considering a one day NATIONAL strike is significant... and this needs to hit transportation and distribution chains to have any effect... I am not counting on it, YET.

4. not a good idea
The idea of a strike is to punish the person or company or organization that has done you wrong. It's done to show a company that without the employees, nothing gets done. Boycotts punish whatever it is you don't like by cutting off its supply of money and profit.

How does a nationwide strike and boycott do anything to stop the war or bring troops home?

If no one goes shopping, and no one goes to work at the mall, they just cancel each other out.

I understand the feeling behind this - to want to do something very big that would have an impact, I just don't get how the impact would get to the government. Seems like workers would lose wages, businesses would lose profits, a whole bunch of people would be inconvenienced for a day...what good does that do?

Now - get everyone to not pay income taxes this year - THAT would make some waves! They can't put everyone in jail!

10. National strikes are done at the grass roots levels
they are not meant to hurt the worker, but to show unity at a national level.

I will use the examples from France, where transportation workers have brought the country to a virtual standstill every time their rights as workers are under attack. Yes on the short term they get hit by a day or two, or a week of geting their salaries docked... but in the long term they have ensured their salaries and benefits

In the case of a national strike in teh US... short term we all are going to get hit by a day of docking of salaries, or in my case a day off from work... (I own my own company), but in the longer term it shows (not that it will happen because people are propagandized to think these are not ideas), unity. The last thing the right needs is a unified country that shows that unity and is willing to slow down teh economy.

Look they have been poopoing the idea of strikes and demonstrations ever since labor marched and bled and won the right to organize. I do firmly recomend that people start raedynig a little history, chiefly the history of labor and civil rights, and then tell me that mass strikes and mass marches and other social unrest is not effective... start with A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, in particular labor and civil rights...

9. Look at the Giant March during the RNC last year...
What lasting effect did it have ? Did the Repugs even care ?
No, they were in the Garden giving each other the purple band-aids and laughing about it...

Cindy Sheehan is brilliant; Bush couldn't go ANYWHERE without her impacting and overshadowing his agenda. Imagine if there were several Cindy Sheehan type predicaments for these clowns to have to deal with all at the same time...along with strikes, marches, etc...

Making Bushie heads explode would be good fun, sez I.

11. the secret to cindy is
she has attracted the media, last year's march was known by us but never broke through the consciousness because the enemy controls it... hence this is where a national strike that slows down the economy will be forced to be recognized

Cindy is not that brilliant, she just figured the formula to break through the iron wall in the media conglomerates, we need similar formulas all over the place and slowing the economy down will get their damn attention

Oh and one march can be ignored, even a million man march... start doing this every day... it gets impossible
