New York Times Pay to Read Service - Anyone else with problems?
I came to NYT defense the other day regarding its new TimesSelect pay to read plan.

I signed up for home delivery and should be able to get access to the site. Instead, I end up in an endless loop of logging in, only to have to log in again. Repeated e-mails have gone unanswered. I am pissed.

Anyone having similar problems?

(Posted this in the Lounge - apparently no NYT readers there. Any here?)

1. They probably have to work out all the bugs,
I'm not sure what to do yet. They really should have set up a day pass system like Salon.

2. Yes, the new NYT site does not like Firefox, or it needs cookies
I'm not sure which.

After I tried to get it to work with a support peron on the phone, I gave up (the support person was pretty good).

It worked ok with IE.

10. I thought so too
Double checked cookie setting - no problem there.

I use Firefox, but also checked with IE - same problems.

And no - repeat no - response to my e-mails.

Boy am I pissed.

I logged in without any problem.

Try rebooting and give it another shot.

Will try (said while slapping myself in the head). You know, you would think they would provide this little bit of advice. In any case, will let you know if this works.

Still no go. Granted, I'm just one customer, but you would think they would launch this only after being 100% sure it worked. Could you imagine ebay or amazon doing this? This is ridiculous.

9. We have been subscribing for years and I am yet to figure out
how to do it, and whether both my husband and I (since we have different last names) could access it on our computers. We have no numbers on our copies so we need to call, etc, etc. Quite a pain. I may just settle on reading it in the morning in my hard copy.

13. Maybe this part of the FAQ?
I am having trouble logging in to the Home Delivery Web site. What should I do?

If your User ID and password don’t work, you may have to update them for the new site. Your new password will allow you to access new features such as TimesSelect, where you can experience free unrestricted access to premium online content. To upgrade to a new Times User ID and password simply go to homedelivery.nytimes.com and click on the button “not registered.

14. Same problem
I am a home subscriber and upgraded yesterday - and now can't get in. Called and they said to check in later - "working out bugs".

17. I haven't actually tried. I'll take your advice and give them a few
days to work on their servers.
