Remaining four dolphins in the gulf couldn't be spotted today.

Just reported by Gary Tuchman at CNN. They've rescued four dolphins, but today the other four couldn't be spotted. Try again tomorrow. :cry:

Of the original 8, 5 of them had lived in the wild when they were younger. The other 3 had been born in captivity. I hope those born in captivity were among those rescued. Perhaps the others decided to try to make it on their own.

10. Dolphins are highly intelligent

They are probably smarter than their trainers--they'll find another gig and I think we don't give them enough credit, they will instinctively find some fish to eat in their travels.

article. They had been captured "in the wild." Maybe they stayed with their buddies to help them along and then decided to "cut out on their own."

They may have already, and that's why they're not around. They were slaves after all, and slaves frequently want their freedom. Regardless, I pray for their safety.

13. I don't know if I totally buy into dolphins raised in captivity

wanting to be free...(per say and that is just to say do they like their handlers? I think they might)

Let me state here and now...

If anyone here has a need for my family and I to live in captivity in nice surroundings (I can direct you to copy of the types of interiors we prefer) with very little stress (you pay all the bills and feed us and give us awesome medical care and lots of adoration)

I'm there--we'll jump through some hoops and throw you a ball for a few hours a day in a show type setting.

This screwing around and fending for ourselves stuff under the bush regime SUCKS.

I am obviously being a smart ass but I think the dolphins will be just fine...IMO they tried to hold out for their handlers/ finally got irritated and left. I have no doubt those wonderful creatures will do just fine on their own!

27. We have 3 'adopted' doggies and they will take advantage of prey

when it's presented to them. They will chase down a rabbit and eat it on occasion. I feel bad for the bunnies but it's their instinct. And of course our cat does the same thing. A million years of evolution creates that kind of scenario.

to a baby squirrel and then a baby bunny that she is no longer allowed in the back yard without human supervision.

Of course, behavior like we've been describing is not the same thing as domesticated animals being thrown in the wild to fend for themselves. Still, those instincts are nothing to sneeze at.

I wouldn't be at all surprised and considering they were out there for days the others may have opted on the rest of the ocean rather than staying with the group.

It wouldn't be the first time and instincts for survivial can do a lot more than what many of us realize.

Personally, I think they'll be fine.

When we have tornado warnings and my cats lay around like they rule the world sleeping and grooming themselves at their leisure as per usual...I think *no big deal* -- when they get agitated and act weird or are no where to be found... I head to the basement.

Acute sense of hearing? ESP?

I have no freaking idea but they seem to know something I don't and I take heed!

When they were initially found, the dolphins were not in very good shape. They hadn't learned to take care of themselves. Let's hope the four remaining dolphins will be found.
