Helen Thomas doesn't beat around the bush

<snip>

Q If he was so bold, why do we have 37 million people living below the poverty line?

MR. McCLELLAN: Well, do you want me to go back and talk about the economy?

Q I mean, if his policies are so great.

MR. McCLELLAN: I'll be glad to go -- more Americans are working than ever before, Helen. We've --

Q Thirty-seven million below the poverty --

21. More people are working ..Bulls#@$%.............
WOOOOOOOOOOO..........There are many Americans and I mean thousands out of work and are no longer eligible for unemployment benifits..these people are counted as employed since they dont file anymore..Now to get an accurate count of actual Americans working one would have to one would have to tabulate figures from quarterly reports and Im telling ya if the Labor department did that than the figures would certainly be a much higher unemployment percentage........

6. Hey Scottie - sure more Americans are working . . . if you just talk
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 07:40 PM by ET Awful
about the actual number that hold jobs instead of the percentage of those who are eligible for employment because in order to state that more are working than ever before, you must also acknowledge that there are more Americans than ever before. That statement is as dishonest as saying Bush received more votes than any President in history (even if there was no cheating which we all know isn't the case), Kerry received the 2nd most votes, so the statement without it's qualifiers is misleading.

If 37 million are living in poverty and more people are working than ever before, that tells anyone with 1/2 a brain that those who are working are working for less.

Smack him some more Helen.

10. Like Detergent, new-er and bolder? Bush has "bold ones"
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 08:12 PM by WillYourVoteBCounted
Now, where did everyone else's go?

Little Scottie, not the pretty one, but Bush's Scottie says --

"The policies that this President has pursued are bold ones and they are ones that are achieving real results for all Americans. The President, from day one, has been acting to move forward on bold initiatives to produce real results that are helping all Americans....

more on the Prez's bold ones:
" And one question you have to come back to is, do we continue to move forward on failed policies of the past that have left too many behind, or do we think in new and bold ways to help all Americans. And this President has thought in new and bold ways and actually acted."

and again the word "bold", as if the Pres is
But this President, from day one, has been acting boldly to address these issues and to achieve results.

Q If he was so bold, why do we have 37 million people living below the poverty line?

17. Helen Thomas is a national treasure
She leads the way. I hope that she's been pleased over the last few weeks by the numbers of her colleagues who finally found their spine, and as a result, are making Scott McClellan's life a living hell.

This 80+ years young lady is still the dean of the White House press corps, and I hope she's with us (and badgering White House press secretaries who desperately deserve it,) for many, many more years.

:applause:

Julie
