Headline: "The Two Faces of Bill Clinton: He aids, criticizes White House - which one do you like?"

Keeping AOL is like watching Chris Matthews. Masochism. Why do I keep punishing myself like this?

1. (quietly noting that the headline is not without its merits)
:hi:

2. Thanks for the report.
And I mean it.

Saved me the pain of going over there.

Of course, isn't the wife who inherited the fortune (AOL) a big Bushbot?

Makes sense.

5. Leave A-O-HELL
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 11:24 PM by joefree1
I did. Told the operators I was going to live in a small village in China that had no internet for a year. They finally let me go.

Just pick up the phone and start batting the AOL reps away. It may take a while but you'll be glad you did.

on edit: do a keyword search for "leaving AOL." You find plenty of sites that tell you how to do just that.

7. Sounds like they hold on for dear life, Joefree
I heard they do everything but throw a harpoon in you to keep you in their evil clutches.

I like the reason you gave them for leaving. Maybe I'll tell them I'm going to Abu Dahbi for an extended stay.

10. They do indeed!
I used to have AOL and decided to switch to Comcast highspeed internet when it was available in my area. A friend of mine in Portland had already switched to Comcast from AOL, and she warned me about how hard it would be to get rid of it. I tried and tried and tried and they would not stop. So, I informed my bank (had auto withdrawal for AOL) to not allow them to take any more money out of my account. AOL started sending me bills. I sent them back, saying I had cancelled my service. They still sent me bills, I still sent them back, and finally about 4 months, they left me alone. Took a little hit on my credit report, but it was worth it to finally get rid of them! Good luck on getting out! And send a postcard from Abu Dahbi! B-)

11. Wow, they sound like the Mafia
Once you get into bed with them...well, you know the rest. Wonder if you can get them for harrassment if they pull any shit?

6. ....well... they have a point.
He swings whichever way the wind blows. He crumbles faster than a house of cards. Just ask any gay person. "I think gay folk should be allowed to serve in the Military." "Hey, gay folk... don't ask, don't tell." "Isn't life grand? I can get a blow job from a barely legal girl, cheating on my wife, but thankfully I signed DOMA into law ensuring that Bob and Ted down the road here can't get married despite that they've been in a relationship with each other 60 some odd years and have never once cheated on each other."

13. Gee, thanks for that.
Long time AOL member here. I pay $21.95 per month for it. Where I live, in the boondocks, if you want anything else, the next price up is $60.00 per month, and that's for wireless. So I'd also have to spend money on parts for my non-wireless computer. (Money I literally do not have.)

So here is my choice. I can spend $40.00 more a month for wireless -- or I can purchase medications, eat once in a while, buy things like gas, toothpaste, you get it.

I guess I'm an asshole because I'm poor and I have to eat.

15. You're welcome.
I didn't coin the phrase. You don't even want to know what I've heard online about web tv users.

12. Did you catch that more than 60% preferred him?
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 11:59 PM by Tiggeroshii
At least one of the three "preferred choices had a lot of responses, and the "neither" choice had fewer than forty percent. It's not a scientific poll of course, but it still has it's merits, people still like the guy!
