"British soldiers left... to free Iraq... this is how they are repaid"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/09/20/uyourviewiraq.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/09/20/ixnewstop.html

British soldiers left their homes and families and risked their lives to free Iraq from a ruthless dictatorship and this is how they are repaid. The behaviour of the Iraqis who attacked our lads is a disgrace and I'm just thankful that the two kidnapped men have been rescued. Hopefully this will serve as a wake-up call to the British command that they need to change their stay-out-of-the-way policy and start cracking down hard on anyone outside of the law. This will inevitably lead to more unpleasantness in the short term but it is essential for Iraq's future. Richard Forth, London

7. I'm of two minds here
If I were a Shia activist and I wanted to obtain two Brits for use in a political incident knowing that regardless of the outcome the Brits would probably reduce their presence to avoid further incidents, I'd just pick up a couple of soldiers (who very well may have killed a policeman trying not to be "arrested"), claim that they had a car bomb and were attacking police, singing "death to Allah", etc.

What would the British have to gain by playing dress up and inciting a civil war? What would they have to lose? I'm having a hard time buying this story on face value.

On the other hand, we have been lied to so often I don't know who to trust - so I don't trust anyone, ESPECIALLY just because they claim to be "fighting for our freedoms".

In the absence of more concrete evidence, I'm leaning more heavily away from the "obvious" bait we're supposed to swallow.

5. I didn't even know one could get Kool-Aid in London. Who knew?
The Brits probably drink it warm though.

6. According to CNN these two lads were firing on civilians and police.
...as part of a 'special security task'.

Now could we here more about their freeing these people from a ruthless dictator?

The official said two unknown gunmen in full Arabic dress began firing on civilians in central Basra, wounding several, including a traffic police officer. There were no fatalities, the official said.

The two gunmen fled the scene but were captured and taken in for questioning, admitting they were British Marines carrying out a "special security task," the official said.

8. "Kidnapped?" Those two were "kidnapped?"
Um, yeah, sure. :eyes: And their murder of an Iraqi policeman was, what? A prank? Good. God.

9. Proof that incredible stupidity is not exclusive to our country
It looks like these guys were committing sabotage or worse, and were caught in the act. The brits had to get them back before they were forced to talk, hence the attack on the police station and the lies about negotiations. That's just my opinion, but I bet it is about 35 miles closer to the truth than this idiot's.
