Let's re-think building that BSL-4 Bio Lab on Galveston Island, huh?
It's going ahead full steam.

Assigned to improve U.S. biodefense research, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), an arm of the National Institutes of Health, has funded nine regional biocontainment labs and, more controversially, two national biolabs outfitted with BSL-4 facilities. One is the Boston University lab; the other is at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, a growing center of bioterrorism research. NIAID awarded each university a one-time grant of $120 million to build the centers.

2. I live in Houston
and I had no idea. :banghead: Yes, Galveston doesn't seem to be the safest place for biolabs, does it? Another "what were they thinking" moment!

3. Carolina Outer Banks - or Florida Keys - so many great locations
for Bush to choose.

Every time I think Bush could not have made a worse decision, he surprises me and modifies the decision - making it worse.

:-(

4. We build a facility to house and protect us from
the very evil we create.

Can we just stop the insanity for a few minutes while we finish cleaning up the huge mess we already have made?

6. I agree. Homeland Security cannot be trusted! I moved from Houston to
Boston and love both cities. Galveston is where I spent many happy days on the beach. HS has shown that it is a miserable failure.

7. And then we have
Plum Island smack in hurricane alley off the coast of LI, near Boston. What a place to put that one right near a high population, storm path.
