In yesterday's Kalamazoo Gazette
Recent polls show that there are now fewer people willing to express support for President Bush than there were two weeks ago. Those remaining supporters however, are as strident as ever.
The latest GOP talking point is Blame Game and it has spread faster than an internet virus. Everyone in the administration and the majority of cable TV news-speakers and the chattering class have been using the phrase liberally for a week.
One thing you have to keep in mind though; when Republicans insist that no one play the "blame game" they really mean "Don't blame the Bush administration, blame the Louisiana Democrats."
What a bunch of unifiers.
What we're seeing now is graphic evidence of the bankruptcy of the Bush administration policies. This government chose tax cuts for the very wealthy and a hugely expensive war instead of investment in American communities and infrastructure. This government chose to staff FEMA with political cronies who had no experience in emergency preparedness. The huge sums of tax dollars shoveled into the Homeland Security Department have apparently been nothing but pork.
The rich are clean and safe and getting richer every day while our poor are dying in Louisiana and Iraq.
