Bush won't be in DC for the 9.24 protests

http://www.krqe.com/expanded.asp?ID=12094

Bush schedules two more trips to gulf coast

...

Bush has been trying to repair the political damage caused by the slow federal response to Hurricane Katrina. He plans another trip Friday and Saturday, stopping in Alabama, Texas, and Arkansas.

The White House says the weekend trip will be an opportunity for the president to personally thank some cities and states that have taken in large numbers of people affected by Katrina.

The trip also means Bush will be away from Washington on Saturday when an anti-war march is held. Organizers hope to attract 100-thousand people.

7. Why am I not surprised. If I were B**, I wouldn't stay there either.
Talk about a PR nightmare - him holed up, surrounded. This way, when someone asks him about the protest, he'll have his stupid shirt sleeves rolled up, "working" hard, and can say, "I'm here trying to help make a positive difference." Unfortunately, the protest could look like we are piling on.

He never shows for the marches...I'm sure if he saw all the people that can't stand him, he'd blow a gasket.

18. Maybe God will have Rita sit outside wherever he's about to visit
And pounce on his ass when he's there (in Texas or wherever he's at). Then we'll see what he's made of, if he gets caught in the middle of a hurricane, instead of strumming a guitar someplace else! Maybe he'll ignore the news again, and his handlers won't have the courage to tell him in time to "move out"!

25. The coward!!
Perfectly predictable that he would rather run and hide than face the people for whom he works. Gore, or Kerry, would never do such a despicable thing. But then Gore, or Kerry, would never be faced with such protests because they wouldn't have screwed up so badly in the first place.
