This one's gonna make 'em shit the bed, because they are positively militant about immigration...

Immigration Nominee's Credentials Questioned

The Bush administration is seeking to appoint a lawyer with little immigration or customs experience to head the troubled law enforcement agency that handles those issues, prompting sharp criticism from some employee groups, immigration advocates and homeland security experts.

The push to appoint Julie Myers to head the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, part of the Department of Homeland Security, comes in the midst of intense debate over the qualifications of department political appointees involved in the sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina.

Her uncle is Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, the departing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She married Chertoff's current chief of staff, John F. Wood, on Saturday.

1. Most pukes actually in office want to look the other way on immigration.

It's such an easy source of slave labor for their plantations and sweatshops.

2. While we were watching Katrina, * slipped in this
recess appointment. Per TalkLeft, she has the same 'credentials' as Myers. Worked with Chertoff and Starr!
The link to the Houston Chronicle is 'no longer available'.

Bush Sneaks In Another Recess Appointment
While no one was looking, in the middle of the disaster in New Orleans, Bush found time Wednesday to bypass the Senate and appoint Alice Fisher as Chief of the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice in a recess appointment.

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., had blocked the nomination because he wants to talk to an agent who named Fisher in an e-mail about allegedly abusive interrogations at the U.S. military prison camp at Guantanamo. Fisher can serve until January 2007.

There isn't any mention of the appointment on the Department of Justice's website or the White House site.

3. Shrub promised his voters that he'd surround himself with experts.
He neglected to mention that their area of expertise would be in "brown-nosery"...
