Hillary, Blanco, Limbaugh

Well I knew sooner or later Rush would somehow try and make political hay(Hillary) out of Blanco crying on television. Rush read an email declaring "Is it me or does gender seem to play a role in how well governors respond to a tragedy" or something to that effect. Obviously a shot across the bow of a possible female presidential candidate in 2008.

I don't think Hillary will win in a general election is because the swing voters won't feel comfortable voting for a woman during a war - no matter how enlightened we'd hope people would be.

It just won't happen.

I'm female and hope for equality, but I also am a rational human who happens to live in a red state that used to be blue. I know of what I speak. I also have a fiance who's a vet and from Boston - he agrees with me, totally, on the "female" and "New England" candidates issue that seems to be plaguing the Dems. (He also HATES Dubya).

I don't hate Hillary, but I really do not want her to be the Dem nominee in 2008 because she won't win. And I want to win in 2008 (and in 2006)

and the Limbaugh's of the world will play the gender card constantly. However, the Cons icon Reagan had a certain female friend during the cold war that even Cons admired. Thatcher was a very strong leader. So it will be interesting to see how Cons play the gender card going forward

she'd need to address. However, I'm not sure toughness would be as much of a problem as many believe. Even people who don't like her know she's tough as nails.

Maybe if we weren't at war (and we WILL be at war - some war - because, after all BushCo. is in charge), it would be different, but I see a Republican woman becoming president before a Democratic woman.

Sorry to say that, but it's just the Mommy Party vs. the Daddy Party mentality. And, until Dems become a full-service party (I term it "the Single Parent Party"), then I don't see swing voters gravitating toward a liberal female.

I'm at work and can't get into too much detail, but I'm sure others can pick up this ball and run with it.

17. I listened to today's Oxy-Rush Dog n Pony show for a while today.....

And I noticed something very conspicuous. Whenever he referred to the governor of Louisiana he called her Mrs Blanco every time instead of Governor Blanco. I heard him do that many times. He would emphasize the "Mrs" part every time. He doesn't seem to care about being caught being a sexist pig, among all his other well-earned attributes.
