Redemption--Thy Name is "Rita"!!!
They're hopin' and a prayin', aren't they?? From the little bit I can stomach of the media, they certainly are trying to portray those warrior brothers, Georgie and Jebbie, as standing with face into the hurricane, oblivious of wind and rain, taking charge and saving the huddled masses, blah, blah. They are hoping for destruction with FEMA and George being there 5 minutes after the hurrican dies down. They are trying to make it sound like this is as bad as Katrina. They are not missing a step of showing us that our masculine cowboy is IN CHARGE!!! And, in general, the White House is all giggles about the photo ops they can pull out of this one. It's sort of like watching Saddam kissing a Kurdish child and trying to get your attention off of the mound of their kin that he gassed............god I detest these people.

1. There is no redemption
Bush blew his chance to do his job the way it's supposed to be done.

2. Even if it does turn out to be as bad a Katrina
it won't redeem them. It will only underscore the fact that * had similar information regarding the severity of Katrina before it hit. All * and FEMA could do to rush in after will only highlight the lack of rushing after Katrina.

It's a no-win situation for them.

5. * is gonna have to pay the piper for these disasters.
That inevitably means, gasp, raising taxes! Didn't even DeLow say that congress has cut federal programs as much as possible?

6. Ever say something real stupid...
and everybody starts laughing at you? I sure have. Then you say something like, "Wait a minute, what I really meant was..." and that just makes you look worse. It took me many years to realize that sometimes it's best to just shut up, let them have their laugh (laughing with them if you can), and move on.

This is one of those moments for Dubya. Unfortunately for him, he's too dumb and arrogant to realize this simple truth of life.

9. How about GWB's "dont buy any gas if you don't need to" after Katrina?
his solution to the gas price spikes post Hurricane, didn't hear many people noting that as even for him a dumber than dumb moment.

13. As f/most here I'm sure, they come in spurts and post-Katrina has been big
for everyone, I am sure, and as you can tell with the overload of postings lately, the excitement of smelling Bush political blood in the water is a stimulant to all!

7. Those photo ops will backfire big time
if Rita becomes a major hurricane and causes the same kind of damage in Texas that Katrina did in Mississippi. And, given that kind of devastation, shrubbie will be throwing reconstruction dollars at Texas and all his good buddies there. And that may very well translate into a further decline of support among his core supporters. Poor shrubbie. Never mind the fact that our national guard is stretched so thin due to Iraq deployments that they may not be able to offer meaningful assistance to many.

11. Part of the problem will be
that Galveston and Houston are already geared up for Rita, so things, while not perfect, will run much smoother than NOLA. Galveston already has buses prepared for tomorrow (Wednesday), Galveston mayor says mandatory will be tomorrow, etc. Things are very organized here - as much as they can be when you are dealing with Mother Nature who has a mind of her own.

FEMA is already here because of Katrina so there won't be a lag in service.
