There really is a death tax and it is a good term.

It works like this.

Working man gets sick. He goes to the hospital and there he is told he needs various surgeries and long term nursing home care. For a period of time insurance of various types carry him forward. When the insurance runs out medicare (Medicaid?) might kick in. Also accessed is every dollar he ever saved and all the properties he ever bought. As soon as all available assets are consumed health care is terminated along with his assets. He is allowed then to die.

If such a hypothetical individual were real and allowed euthanasia he could die with dignity and save some money for HIS children to inherit.

what a death-loving cretin you are! if this hypothetical individual wishes to save some money he is FREE to refuse medical care and die a long and agonizingly painful death. we do not allow euthanasia FOR A REASON! Why? because we love him.

won't work here. We have financial burden issues that they DON'T, which mean people will choose to die --or worse, the choice will be made for them--for the wrong reasons(GREED).

5. Oh I agree with your position

in a way. I am not personally in that position as I am a veteran with VA health care.

My step mother gave away much of here wealth to her children early on in life. But she too had excellent health care insurance up to her death.

I have a wealthy friend that took over his mothers wealth way before she died leaving her with just enough for burial. I know this because he brags about it.

I think there are shades of grey here the shades could be eliminated if every body had access to affordable health care for life.

Much work to be done.

Of course one can see no wrong with wealthy people escaping inheritance tax altogether. They die with the most toys and win.
