15. They are calling it the equivalent of the poll tax which assisted
in keeping poor people from voting in our shameless past.

16. but if they're free and easily gotten, how is it a poll tax.
or is the assumption that they'll just be too difficult to obtain?

I know Georgia is CHARGING for them :#

17. According to Conyers they will be difficult to obtain. And already
Georgia is charging for them.

From Commissioner Susan Molinari

Molinari said the commission included measures that would prevent the cards from being an undue burden on those of lower incomes.

"The safeguards include initiatives to locate those voters without IDs and provide them one without cost," she added. "Under the recommendation, eligible votes can cast a provisional ballot that will be counted if they present their photo ID within 48 hours."

Do you for one nano second those initiatives and waiving of fees will be followed through with?

2. Thank you so much
for posting this! I had Randi's show muted through the last commercial, and had forgotten to turn her back on.

Conyers and Randi talking about voting ID cards. Also Dennis Hastert and not rebuilding NO. "let's just pave it over" he said. Conyers has a great sense of humor.

6. He mentioned as I posted earlier about the proposed "poll tax" bill
which was created by James Baker and Jimmy Carter. That would require National ID cards in order to vote. That also would create hardship for those who weren't in close proximity to centers.

He then discussed how Halliburton is getting no-bid contracts for New Orleans, how food stamps and other programs for our nation's neediest have been cut. They discussed Bush's non-reaction to Katrina and Bush's current poll numbers.

And you're welcomed faith :)
